Reviews for "Hug Marine"

Overall, this game is simple. A simple story, simple gameplay, and simple music. Whether thats good or bad is up to the individual, but overall, I thought this game was quite nice. Nothing groundbreaking, just amarine that wants to hug people. Although I still grade kinda harsh, so I give it a 3.5

failnaut responds:

That's cool! If I was getting a solid five stars for my first game I'd be a little puzzled. I'm glad you thought it was quite nice, though. :).

That was adorable! The whole concept of going through dangerous lands, just to hug things was really sweet, and the graphics were clean.

The only slightly annoying part was that there were no check points, so even if I worked nearly all the way through the level I still had to start from the beginning, but the stages were short enough for it not to matter too much.

Some music would have been nice, but it was really good overall.

failnaut responds:

Just a note - there's an entire soundtrack, actually! Aside from that, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and checkpoints is something I may update it with, as it's a pretty common criticism.

First off, loving the idea so much. Hugging is awesome and the world would be so much better off if we gave more hugs. Liked the style and the music; reminds me a bit of 64 bit games. Controls were solid; no sliding at all, which is rare.

But! I feel the game doesn't provide much of a challenge. I'd love to see and expanded version, with more than just jumping and hoping you don't fall. (also, arrows... I feel they're not much needed...)

Loving this game for the concept and feel, but there is room for improvement.

HUGGY IMPROVEMENT.

failnaut responds:

There will be! This is the first game I've ever really made, in Stencyl (hence the awesome physics etc), so I'm glad you love the idea!

The game is simple enough, run, jump, die, restart, and try to get farther each time. Though the game is simple, the controls are slippery and every once in a while the jump delays but its still a good enough time waster.

failnaut responds:

Yeah, sorry about the simplicity there, I'll try and work on the controls. Glad it was a good time-waster, though. :).

This was a really fun and cute game. My dad said it's like Pitfall, but I thought Pitfall was kind of difficult and this isn't. Sometimes when I was on the platforms I thought they were going to fall after some time, but they don't.

failnaut responds:

Apologies for the lack of difficulty - I'm not an uber-pro gamer myself, so I figured that if I could finish it, it'd be okay, but then again, I know where everything is, I guess! Will take this on board.
