Reviews for "Ace Pilot"

It's evident that a lot of work was put into this and it's a shame that it turned out like this. The humor here is just a bit too juvenile. I can usually withstand some stupid humor (Kung Pow, anyone?) but this was too over the top for me. Most of the writing seemed to be supported by random fucks and shits and not very much actual story. And since this was basically an interactive movie, (and I'll get to the interactive part in a minute) you'd think that a lot of love and care would go towards the script, but it ended up just feeling hollow and more predictable than not finding the princess in the next castle. Anyways, the gameplay for me was HORRENDOUS. The controls are slow and you can either avoid enemies and not be able to shoot at them, or fly into their lasers, guns blazing, only to be stopped so that Ratchet (or whatever his name was) can slowly repair your ship and spout off the same lines over and over again. This just ended up feeling drawn-out and over-the-top stupid. 2.5/5 for the effort. PS: I'd also suggest changing the rating to M, because this is NOT T-rated content

like some of the other reviewers, i would have enjoyed this much better if it was a movie instead of a game. i do appreciate the fact that a lot of good work went into this, it looks and sounds great, but game-play (even though you can't lose) is just unnecessary.

Voice acting is excellent, and the story is wonderful. The Characters are pretty enjoyable too. The biggest problem I have is that it feels more like an interactive movie, than a real game. There's no penalty for being a bad player, and really, it may as well have just been further cut-scenes of the protagonist shooting up legions of enemies flawlessly without any game-play at all.

I mean, the cut scenes were obviously where all the work went for this game. The game play itself, is lacking, and left me unengaged. I can start a scene, leave the game alone to chat with folks for a while, and then come back to it if I feel like it. But as I tried doing this once, I was hit with a realization of: Why? Sure, the story is great, and so are the voice actors, but the reward for the amount of mindlessness it takes for me to play, just wasn't quite enough.

The controls are the thing that feels the most off. If you've ever played a game like Escape Velocity, or Pirate Galaxy, There's often a nice feeling when you control your velocity forward, or back. When you can only control your turns, it just doesn't feel right in space. Sure, it's great in a flight simulator: after all, planes can't stop mid air, turn, and reverse. but in space, these kind of things should be intuitive, not afterthoughts.

I have to reiterate, that I find a lot enjoyable about this game, but after playing it once, the replay value seems like nil. I also feel this qualifies much better, as an interactive movie, than a true game. But that's just me.

Meh,a decent game.
The controls is not my cup of tea.

This is kind of boring.
