Reviews for "Captain Zaron"

great game

really a good game and also pretty hard... i took off a single point for difficulty because at certain points it was just driving me nuts and also because its not entirely laptop friendly but still a really great game and cleverly put together with pretty good jokes thrown in. keep up the good work :D

good until the arcade bits

Game is a fun little puzzle game until you get the sword fights. Then it becomes a never ending frustration of "I hit that key! I hit that d- key!". You watch the guy move his sword up, hit up, and you die because he also attacked in the same millisecond to he moved his sword up. And there's no key to skip the 'good' and 'try again' messages so you're constantly switching between mouse and keyboard and argh. I just gave up on the sword trainer. End of game.

Side note: I managed to crash the game (repeatably) by trying to play the horn at the witch, who would turn me to dung while the horn was playing except the game would freeze. Fun.

But mostly it was neat little relaxing puzzles until you suddenly have to have miracle fast arcade moves that fail half the time even if you press the right key.

DONE

Ok ok ok ok ok...... I BEAT IT!

Right, review time. First off, humor: Excellent. The game knew how to not take itself too seriously much like other adventure games of the past. Very funny and all the humor was suitably in its place.

Art: Really not that great. However, it was good enough to fit the feel of the game so it's not really a big deal. Also, the need for pristine visuals is subverted by the sheer amount of stuff to do in the game.

Fun: Oodles! It's very easy to get stuck, so thanks for putting Norman in there. Pit was also tons of help too. Two downsides that I experienced though. First, I ran around forever trying to find stuff to do not knowing Norman's house was even there. Two, those sword fights. Oooooooooh boy those sword fights. Not only did I just want to reach into the game and just snap their necks with my bare hands, I really blew a fuse when I accidentally reset the game from the death screen once per fight (Sylvin and that last one). Speaking of which that last fight.... Oh man, I'm not even going to go there. It's awesome to have sword fights... it makes you feel awesome when you win, but the difficulty curve shouldn't go from running around solving puzzles to something THAT steep. Still, everything else was the most fun I've had playing a flash game in a LOOOOOONG time.

Replayability: I've beaten it. I'm done with it. It might be fun to go back through again sometime down the road for nostalgia's sake, except for those darn sword fights.

Coding issues: I'm shocked that a game this size has none that I ran into. Go you!

All in all, I liked the sense of freedom and adventure. I loved the humor and the story was actually really engaging when it wasn't being totally ridiculous. So points for both of those. I'm actually really looking forward to the sequel.

Keep up the great work!

It's pretty good

The puzzles were pretty good and I like the art style. But the combat couldn't be worse, I mean really the guy goes right from an upper block into a lower attack way to fast to move my sword and him taking 3 hits while I only get one is just stupid.

fun

nice job men its missing some things but nice work keep it up
