Most Excellent, Sir!
After 5 hours or so, and 100% achievements, I think I can now make a good review.
The graphics were well done. I was impressed with the emotions the zeds could show through use of the eye brows, mouth, and full body animations. It was like experimenting on actual "living" things.
The sound was well done. Maybe the voices weren't professionally recorded, but they were recorded well. Sound effects from the microphone, the radio, and other electronic devices was spot on. That includes the recorders used to tell story. And the music for the reactions was very appropriate.
The gameplay was awesomely interactive. It was fun trying to figure out the best way to raise one stat, while keeping another one at the same place, and lowering the last one. Lots of trial and error. Having to go back and get the items required to get an advanced reaction was part of the fun!
The story was a little weak, but to be honest, I wouldn't have needed one. It did keep it interesting though... especially since I had played Road of the Dead for a good couple of hours. So those tidbits were a nice surprise!
I had a couple of gripes, as no game can ever be perfect.
It did get tedious at some points. A good example is getting all of the achievements. But then again, I chose to get 100% because that's how I play games I greatly enjoy. This also ties in to the fact that each zombie is different and different items give bigger bonuses. Part of the fun was figuring those out as well!
As others had mentioned, a skip option for the cut scenes would have been nice. I've also read other reviews and understand that certain difficulties would have been had to put them in.
Over all, a very well made and enjoyable game! The concept was fresh, and the idea of zombies having memories or at least reactions to items of importance in their life keeps them seeming human... Although they very much are not. Just check out the passive rat or when the zombie understands that a rabbit is dead. It was almost sad.
I understand a sequel is in the works and look forward to what else you have up your sleeve! Keep it up!
