Much more satisfying sim
I found original Rebuild just yesterday, and am pleased that this new game significantly improves the tension during the endgame. I never felt that I had enough resources to feel really safe. I also liked the Church of the Chosen Ones storyline added to the game - those details brought me into the claustrophobic lifestyle of my little post-apocalyptic community.
My only two complaints are that the game played sluggishly on my computer and the overaggressive marketing for another game. Though my pc isn't top-flight any more, it's usually been plenty good enough for older strategy games & simulations (Sempron 2800+, 2 G ram). But after I'd set Rebuild 2 to full-screen I could watch the focus trail slowly after my mouse, and zombie attacks were particularly slow, failing to register my clicks and double-clicks for several seconds. Sometimes I even lost control of scrolling over the city, because the program became so slow to register my mouse drag events. I think I still want to play the game again in spite of this poor performance, but if the programmer were able to optimize the game further it would be even more satisfying for players with less generous hardware.
My second complaint, which is really a minor quibble, is that I felt irritated by the constant reminder of the sponsor's game. The promotion appeared to imply the sponsor was expecting me to become bored with this game at any moment and would appreciate the suggestion to leave for a different game. I appreciate the support the sponsor undoubtedly provided the developer, but I'd feel better towards them if their referral link was reserved for a 'other games' selection off the main menu.
