I have seen rankings in going through (worst to best) D C B A S. I never knew the S was for snail until today.
Very fun metroidvania!
I love that getting power ups changes so much. It changes where you can go, what enemies you can kill, how difficult certain areas are, and even how fast you move.
That's what power ups in metroidvania games should do. They should make you feel like you became a lot more powerful than before, like you really progressed.
Even though getting power ups is god, I beat that ice part without the ice power, and I beat the last boss with snails recommending me to get more powers. SKIIII-YIIIIILLZ.

It reminds me a lot of metroid as most other reiews specify, and I would love to see a flash version of the whole metroid game someday. Thats how well I am impressed with this game. I find no flaws but enjoy the fact this needs some skill to play as well as occasional luck here and there, I just wish that it was a bit longer and the areas were bigger. Other than that here's your 10.

Metroid/8bit-style adventure games seem to be getting pretty popular, but I have to say that this one stands a cut above the rest because it was executed perfectly.
If you decided to make a sequel, you should call it "Odyssnail"...heh
