Reviews for "Dimension Diver"

very nice!

fun platformer.. only complaint was the controls are just a tad slow in response to the accuracy needed to preform some jumps in conjunction to getting 7 or more kills in a row, unless that was what you were going for i would suggest changing the response time to the controls, graphics were great, sound effects were great, music wasn't annoying, you have yourself a good game, keep up the good work!!

Great game but sadly fails as a hiscore challenge!

Was this inspired by Super Mario? Jumping on goombas to get 1-ups? Make an entire game about jumping consecutively on enemies like this, add a boost element and even put the flying fish equivalents in it? Why not!

I like the idea for the game, the graphics are pleasant, the music works, the combo system works, the random generation of the levels is nice and the overall amount of levels is somewhat right. Although I understand the complaints about the dash controls, I don't find even that to big a big issue. Lots of great qualities, yet something brings the words of the AVGN to mind: "what were they thinking"?

Let me explain. Single player games could be roughly divided as having three purposes out of which a game shoud fill at least one:
- to give a special experience (like some artistic games that tell a story).
- to give a challenge for the player.
- to let the player compete for hiscores.

Since there isn't any significant story and the game is quite easy in general, I came to the conclusion that its ultimate purpose is in fact hiscores. But there are two elements that should never be part of a hiscore game!

1. THE MINOR ISSUE:
Separate skill levels but a common hiscore list. Why? I suppose there is a tradeoff for playing with the more difficult skill levels, but I still think they should have separate hiscore lists.

2. THE MAJOR ISSUE:
Now this is the thing that I'm truly wondering! You just keep getting those extra lives through which you can keep getting as many points as you want to! Where's the point (no pun intended)? There would be several ways to get rid of this ridiculousity: not give extra lives, make you get the extra lives only when passing a level, or preferably losing your level points when dying.

For the record, I made the current All-Time high of 2,059,700 points on hard, but even though that was almost double the previous All-Time high by Seals (1,049,600) with thousands of people having played the game, I bet someone will soon break my record too.

Without these issues, this would have been a 9, perhaps even a 10. Make a sequel with these things fixed, and consider the feedback about the dash controls as well, and you'll have a superb game!

Interesting game

Its a simple concept and i do like it but i cannot agree more with chugaconroy, double tap dash in mid-air is terrible, since i tap keys loads to line up precise jumps onto enemies and instead i end up dashing off the map :\

Not bad, but could use some improvement

I feel like this game needs to be polished a little more. Like some others have stated before me, controls do need to be customizable, especially with that dash move. Sometimes it screws you up and dashes, when all you want to do is move over slightly to hit the enemy. Next I think there needs to be different bosses on each stage, the first boss could be for the first level, then make one that has a similar look to resemble the level. I think the graphics are pretty good, enemy types are good enough too. You don't necessarily need a story to this game, but it would definitely be better. I think this game somewhat reminds me of the "Ristar" game from the Genesis back in the day, with the star looking guy and the weird enemies. Maybe that game could inspire you some for your next game. I dont know. Anyway, just my two cents, still a good game though, keep up the work!

A decent game.

Graphics: 10/10
Music: 5/10
Gameplay: 5/10
Overall: 8/10
The graphics were great, I loved the detail into every bit of the level you put into it. I also loved the way the levels randomized.
Music wasn't bad, but it could have been better.
The gameplay was difficult, the dash was extremely awkward to use and the jump being assigned to the spacebar was even more so. I would be maneuvering around the level and suddenly, WHOOSH! I'm falling. My advice is to move the jump button to the up arrow and move the dash to an offhand button such as the Spacebar or Shift. I hope to see more games like this from you.
