I get the idea...
The point of this is so you can get any old random seed and share it with your friends and have an adventure in the same world at different times. So one person could find a dungeon while someone else finds diamonds and then they tell each other about their finds. I know you don't have to have this, but this can allow you to share a world that isn't common such examples of easy to generate worlds: glacier, pig, creeper, chicken, and minecraft. Anything can be a seed but this makes a personal world that only you will know about.

Yes, Minecraft creates a random seed when you create a new world. But which is easier: Creating a world, opening NBTedit, navigating to the folder, opening level.dat and extracting the seed, or pressing "Generate" and copypasting into both Minecraft and a text document?
I generally just use the name of whatever song I'm listening to, but if I'm playing Minecraft without music I'll use this.
Oh, and showing a preview of the map would mean that he has to use Notch's code, which would be breaking the law.
What's the point?
I mean, really? MC already has a random seed generator so how the hell would this do any good?
