Reviews for "Meaty Boner"

That's one meaty boner!

I liked it a lot. The last boss was a pain in the ass though. Too many enemies and flying things coming at you. Great concept, loved the artwork. The narrator was pretty amazing at the beginning too. Just need to make it a little easier to beat the last boss.

awesome

never died not even once killed the boss in 3 mins this was waaay to easy

Not bad

I'll be honest, I couldn't beat the last boss. I found the majority of the game a little too easy and the boss a little too hard. It's just that I hit my max meat up early on and everything died quick and easy. It was fun, just really easy. Then I hit the boss and, once again, it was fun but I couldn't seem to dodge his blood spitballs and kill the werewolves with the skulls nipping at my heels. Actually, I lost the majority of my health to the little ankle-biting bastards.

I would only recommend two things though. One would be a health bar for the final boss. You don't need it for all of them, just the boss. If I see that I'm close to killing the guy and I've died fighting him 10 times, I'm more likely to keep playing than if I think he's still at 75%. For instance, I would try to hit the werewolves with my skull just before he would eat them but would throw it the opposite direction by mistake. Now I don't know if that is a miniscule amount of health he's regained or if he's back to 100%.

Two - I would like to be able to turn without changing my position (or at least not changing my position very much). I would sometimes be standing on a small ledge and want to turn around to throw my skull or punch or something and instead of just turning (no matter how lightly I tapped teh arrow key) I would dash about a yard, respectively. It could easily have gotten me killed and I thought it had on few occassions.

I also bumped into a glitch during the boss battle that I thought you might be interested in hearing about. I tossed my skull and it would stick in mid air, mouth wide open, and I would be unable to use it until I died. It occurred a few times on me which may have added to my incompletion of the game. All I can remember about the details of the glitch are that I had at most 2 beef upgrades each time it occurred and that I was trying to eat a werewolf and it failed.

With the glitch, the direction change controls, and the large gap in difficuly I dropped my rating 3-ish points. It was fun and kept me entertained for some time. It looked smooth and controls were good. Nice game. And btw, I don't mind the difficult boss, I just wish there was a bit more upgrading I could do rather than maxing out around level 3 and then playing for 7 more levels. That or a meat level checkpoint in the boss battle so when you die you don't start at level 1 again.

Well done if looked at from the right perspective

I thought the game had a decent play similar to older castlevania games. Yeah you lost all your upgrades in that game when you died as well, fortunately I blazed through this game as a cake walk. Most of you complained about either deaths screwing you over when I had eaten every wolf off every level till I realised I couldn't upgrade anymore so I just jumped over everything and got to the boss. The guy who complained about the crawlers on the ground, hold down and punch simple fix, that's what I did to kill them. The boss itself was the only real challenge and stopped being one when I figured out his attack pattern and then it just became routine till he died. (Kill the skeleton, stun the wolf, beat the shit out of the floating head till it gets close, eat the wolf and get 3 health back, dodge fireballs repeat)

Graphicly I enjoyed the game spite the dangly bits I had to stare at the whole game. Sound wise I didn't mind the music but "that's one meaty boner" got annoying after the 8th time I heard it. I rated this a 9, only docking a point due to the dangly bits of the fully upgraded hero and the annoying repeating voice whenever I eat a wolf. Good job for three days though, very impressive.

Nice, but...

Annoyign as hell that you lose all your meat if you die. Sure, it makes sense, but given that you can't go back and retake earlier levels, it makes the whole thing almost impossible if you die at one of the earlier levels...

Also, last boss is waaaaaay too hard. I usually don't complain about difficulty, because a lot of it depends on my skill, but it is out of proportion given the difficulty of the rest of the game...
