Reviews for "Tasty Planet"

would have been fun

if the controls actually worked. Actions were slow to the response of whatever keys I pressed or didn't react at all.

Bored

A game should curb my boredom, not add to it. By the completion of the fourth level, I had gotten all that I could from this game. Sure, it's a "Katamari" clone in theory, but in practice it's never nearly as fun as that.

For example, the picnic table level. You spend the first ten to fifteen seconds gobbling up every possible item in sight and then sit there for the rest of the level waiting for mice to respawn so that you can eat them. And then I notice that we're being TIMED for this? How can anything I do as the player make the computer respawn mice faster (other than running around aimlessly, which is what I had to do.)

It's not fun when a game programmer makes you waste time to hide the fact that the game mechanics weren't fully realized. Every level ended up being like this to me. Eat what you can eat, wait for the rest to show up and then eat them.

There was no challenge and no fun either. In the end I was basically sorting things from smallest to largest, but unlike Katamari which absolutely fills the screen with possible items, this game falls extremely short. I simply don't like having to wait for the respawns, it takes the fun out of the game.

That's not to say there isn't a good basis to start with here. The game was kind of fun for awhile until it got to the point where every level had me waiting around for more items to eat. I think if you better planned out the levels so that there was more stuff to eat and less "down time" waiting for things to respawn, it'd be more fun. But as it is, I couldn't even complete the game because I was tired of being bored.

Okay-ish.

The time limit almost always ran out once or twice before I could beat the level, and always when I was just about to win.
Not hard, just frustrating when the time runs out just before winning.
