You should have kept going woth the humor...
I don't think this should have been a serious cartoon. I know you you started it as humor and then moved on to a more artistic cartoon, but that just left me with the wrong first impression. Then that just left me waiting for the comedy to come back, which lead to disappointment when it didn't. Sure, there's nothing wrong with drama, but according to your description in the authors comments, you hate people that spam armor lock. Isn't that a reason to make fun of it, so we can see things from you perspective?
What would have been a more satisfying out-come for me, would be the note saying something like, "Dear Dad: I love you. Signed, your Son. P.S. Your a noob." Or when the kid touches him, he immediately comes back to life and (Still thinking he's in the battle) upper cuts him into space. If you kept all of the serious stuff and ended it with a joke that comes out of no-where, it would make it that much more funny.
But, this is what it is and it's you animation, so you can do what ever you like with it. I'm just telling you how I see things. This is still very good for what it is.
