True..

Very sad and true... the internet is worse in many other places..

You make good point

I is sad now.

Who goes to youtube for newgrounds?

Interesting, so your point is that to many people go to youtube in order to see flash that's shown on newgrounds? What?

Honestly I go on youtube to watch what isn't on newgrounds, such as freemansmind and so-forth. IT has nothing to do with newgrounds it's on youtube. Also known as anything other than flash.

Newgrounds is the repository of all that is flash and awesome. (aka flash) It's not going to die because people post their work on youtube as well. Honestly it will live and thrive due to such actions because not everyone knows about newgrounds. SO expanding is a good idea.

I do wonder however what words were exchanged between you good people at the office?

bah

What exactly are you trying to argue here? That there ISN'T a whole sea of ridiculously bad, ridiculously stupid crap here at Newgrounds? Let me just tell you, if that's your platform, if that's the pill you're trying to get me to swallow, well you might do well to consider running for president on the republican ticket. Or at least congress.

But I looked down a ways and saw someone reverently saying with practically a tear in his eye as if by some bout of newgrounds patriotism that Newgrounds is everything, by everyone - and the author responded to say "right on, brother" or something like that. That annoys me.

The only difference between this place and youtube is that ironically, though the Newgrounds slogan is "Everything by Everyone", THAT is what youtube's slogan ought to be - and that is precisely the problem you are trying to make up with them. It really IS everything, by everyone. Arguably, too much. So, a lot of people want to look at cute little animals. So what. That's not even a guilty pleasure to be embarrassed about. Newgrounds, on the other hand, SHOULD be called "everything.... by everyone ......... who has been given in-depth training in the making of flash videos using the latest popular software." What portion of "everyone" do you suppose knows how to do that, or was ever in a position to be educated in it? And before you say "anyone could do it if they wanted to learn", let me pre-emptively respond by pointing out that anyone could also get a bachelor of science, masters and then a PhD in, say, Chemical Engineering, maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA all the while, be in the right place at the right time and know the right people and then get a 6-figure salary position at Dow Corning. Or if not Chemical Engineering, then Electrical, Computer, Ceramic, Mechanical, Genetic Engineering, physics, mathematics, etcetera. Especially if they are already, say, 40 years old and already have a degree in, say, business. They're just going to quit what they're doing and go back to school for a couple years for something completely unrelated to what they were doing before, and do a complete about face in order to accomplish some random thing. Sure. There is a limit to how far out of the way inconvenient a task you can reasonably expect people to put themselves under.

SamGreen responds:

All I'm trying to say is most people (and I say MOST) that release flash animations on youtube and now make a lot of money from it have started at Newgrounds. Then on haven't neglected Newgrounds but have used them as a stepping stone for a greater goal. But that isn't wrong.

This video has MANY points which I think is great that has developed many arguments about it. Stuff like quality, which will fluctuate from site to site granted. Stuff like which I mentioned before people releasing videos here and at youtube then main steam and advertising their youtube because there's more users.

but my MAIN point above all else is quality. I publish it because I know all users her elike animated flash videos, where on youtube obviously they like cats better. All I'm suggesting is not to forget where the animations got their boost.

Tom didn't pay me to make this flash, nor did he ask me to. This is my way of letting most people know they should be grateful for all that Newgrounds has done for them. I as a cartoon creator and cartoon viewer understanding that youtube has high potential in many other areas and is a place to look at many quality videos.

But surely you being a Newgrounds user understand my actual meaning to this video.

I never wanted to explain this so in depth but just wanted to at least let you know to help you understand as there must have been something where you got your wires crossed.

Happy new year. :)

WHAT...THE HELL...
