Almost perfect
Simple, fun, well presented.
The only thing I'd say is that if you start for the start after having levelled up somewhat, you can easily end up with too much defense. There should be a "gift receipt" option, which enables you to exchange 2-3 defense items for the next defense item up. Or maybe even a new version of that defense item.
Also, old weapons should drop on the floor - because accidentally picking up a bowling ball screws up the game plan.
Some tips for those finding it hard:
Don't underestimate the boxing gloves, the seem naff at first, but after level 3 upgrade they can buy you a lot of time in tricky situations - IE when you have no weapons.
You can fit more plasma screens in than the game wants you to.
All of your defenses can be lost in one by a stray flying enemy - don't let it escape.
You can only shoot if you click the enemy, near the bottom of the screen this can be difficult - get in an early shot on another enemy on the way down the screen.
Enemies can appear behind your defenses.
You can place defense in enemy territory.
Upgrade somewhat evenly - the game sometimes gives you junk weapons for ages at a time
"completing" a level but letting the last enemy through is a good way to earn cash, but it'll cost you your defenses (if you have any).
