Reviews for "One Chance"

ending...

You were all warned that you get one chance, thats the way the author intended the game to be. If you don't like how you don't like the chance at losing then don't play? If you don't like 'artsy' games then don't play. Don't eat spicy food and give it a bad review because you hate spicy things and Behold: The spicy food you ate was spicy.

It's "realistic", sometimes you don't get a second chance, sometimes you lose something no matter what you do, sometimes you can't win. Life isn't always puppies, sunshine and rainbows.

That being said there are things that could have been improved. I managed to "find" a replay button so I tried out all the choices. You need more endings (die with bar girl?), more choices would have been nice, and more detail in the art should have been used for such a simple game. Car scene should be a cinematic and your character should move a bit faster.

I like this mostly because people got so worked up about it to be honest.

PS: I think Molly is dead when you're on the bench with her. Her eyes are closed so she might be sleeping, but you abandon her temporarily. Probably wouldn't do that unless she was dead. Would like author conformation, but probably won't get it.

Amazingly Unique!

Graphics: Pretty Basic 8-bit style graphics. nothing ugly but nothing special neither. The walk cycles look ridiculous to me, but like I said its nothing hard on the eyes at least. I also love the way the color scheme changes it really reflects the depressing and empty feeling left in the world. simple and effective. 2/3

Sound: The music is really catchy and soothing yet creepy. it fits the mood very well. The sad track that plays towards the end feels a bit out of place to me, and no sound effects was a downer. 2/3

Execution: I have never felt so depressed before playing a game, and that's a good thing! you captured the emotions of an ending world it feels so eerie and empty towards the end. I am seeing a lot of people are hating the idea of only being able to play it once. Although I wish I would have had more clarification like a warning at the start telling me this would be my only play through before I made random decisions for the first 3 days, but it really gives you that feeling that you are going to die in 6 days and can't go back. It plays like a game but feels like a real life almost, a very depressing life at that. With plenty of endings this game is truly something that was thought out and well done. 3/3

Overall the quality of the product could have been better, but the overall experience is something completely new and unique. I award the extra point for that reason, and for the fact that you have the balls to make a one-play game despite the reaction the general public has. Not all games have to be the same, people. I feel the idea of not being able to replay would absolutely kill the experience of this game, but there is a way around it if you truly must gain the closure of not ending up throwing yourself off a roof.

Overall 8/10

I enjoyed the game a lot.

I understand why you don't want to put in the replay feature, but it's kind of pointless since others can just make new accounts or go to different websites. I was a bit disappointed because of some of the endings. I never got a "good" one, but I decided the first time to just be a lazy prat and goof off. It's odd that your character does not feel sadness once that murderous scientist kills your family, but he does when his wife commits suicide. I felt that the suicide was a little much, the wife didn't show too many signs of depression. Just a little sad I suppose. I was interested that there was no real linear "Good" or "Evil" ending, but it just seems so sorrowful. I mean on the wife-suicide ending, I go to work and everyone's dead, and I just have to think they all gave up on themselves. In short, game good, consistency is alright, and the replay button is needed.

Wow

The fact that I can't replay kind of pissed me off, but I'm not going to be a baby and give it a bad rating like others. It was a good game, nice job.

ugh

he die with his daughter at the park T-T can't change history D:
