Reviews for "Battle Shift"

good but one problem

i paused it for about 1 minute and when i unpaused it the boss shot like 30 of those things im going to call shadow balls at me. other than that its a good game.

Nice game

I really liked it. Even tough I didn't complete it, I liked how the game constantly changed and I will get back to it later for completion. Still, as a game designer, I have the talent to tell how good a game is without completing it. And this is a good game.

Sweet game

Sweet game, though I still haven't beaten the thing yet. The difficulty is nicely balanced, not too easy and not too hard. The different forms of the boss provide a nice challenge, making you switch strategy slightly in order to hit the shadow without being killed yourself.

However, I found myself wanting to watch the boss rather than watch where I was going, and ended up hurling myself off the bridge. The small problem is due to the fact, in my opinion, the character you made isn't nearly as interesting looking as a shape shifting shadow. Still, this is a great game with balanced and fluid gameplay.

For some reason, fighting the initial stages of the fight made me think back to the shadow boss in Link's Awakening, though I doubt anyone remembers it, being on the Game Boy Color and all. Nevermind.

4 out of 5.

Simple

Reminds me of the retro boss battles you used to see in video games when the final boss had a bajillion forms and if you died, you had to start over.

I'm slightly shaky on my rating. I'd like to have seen a full game based around the mechanics... But the boss battle as itself was solid.

Music could have been done better, changing from form to form. Really that's my only criticism.

Nostalgic

Man, I remember playing games like this years ago. Except dying meant doing the entire frigging level over again and praying that you didn't get hit by the fucking pain in the ass monsters en route to the boss.

It's a damn good game- nice, short, not too difficult nor very easy, with phases that are varied enough to make almost every one a slightly (or drastically) different fight.

I'd also like to note that at less than three minutes in length, the game doesn't need any sort of a save feature, and I'm glad that none was implemented.
