too much grinding

There is way too much grinding necessary for this game and the pets are more trouble than they're worth. The game would be much better with buttons that can be assigned to abilities/attacks or items. Prices need to be lowered on everything and you should really be able to buy health items for your pet in the shop. Also, while it makes sense that hatching a pet should mean it starts out at a low level the trouble it takes to get any worthwhile species up to a usable level is too tedious. Also as far as the story goes this hero is the ultimate wimp; he fights nothing but bugs and snakes for the first three levels. He needs exterminator equipment not swords and magic.

graet game

i love thes games. it's so free.

Character movement

The movement controls needs some serious editing. Why you don't adopt the standard mouse click way of moving for RPG games? Since movement plays a huge part of the game, this is a big blow to the game rating.

Pretty nice

I'm only at lvl 8 so far, but I've got a few small gripes already:

I figured out eventually that the map exits are 3 squares wide and protrude out from the edge of the map, but it'd be much nicer if there was a better indication of where they are, like the squares highlight when you mouse-over them or something.

Also, maneuvering around trees/large shrubs can be a pain in the ass at times, especially if there's rocks/platforms behind them.

I noticed unless you specifically attack a monster, the hero will just stand there and get the crap beat out of himself. There's been several times where I am standing behind or at the edge of a bunch of shrubs and the monster runs up and attacks but it's out of view, so I have to guess where it is an click around. Not that big a deal, but can be annoying.

One last thing is the village. It would be nice if you could access your inventory from town. I sold my shield, bought a better one, and since I couldn't equip it in town I happened to forget that I didn't equip it so I was running around killing stuff for about 10 minutes with a perfectly good shield not being used.

But overall, a very nice RPG.
