Reviews for "jumping turtles"

It was

enchanting, my friend. But not my cup of tea. I do, however, love turtles

turtleco responds:

turtles are great, but so is tea, so have your own cup. I think this movie might be for more of a selective taste

Never

Never seen a flock of turtles jumping but still pretty great

turtleco responds:

that was my favorite part

SO COOL AND WELL DONE!

I have to give you props for hand drawing it! the erase lines gave the whole thing a really cool effect

turtleco responds:

well hand drawing is fun

Wonderful

I haven't wrote a review in a while but I think this one deserved one.

Stop motion with physical drawings is a great thing to do if pulled off correctly and in this case, pulled off extremely well. While you could still see the previous sketch of some frames, it actually coinsides well with the actuallity of the entire presentation. At times it enhanced a certain scene and made it that much more enjoyable- reminding us that this is a created piece.

The only thing I enjoyed more than the actual animation itself is the music. As simple as it is, it goes extremely well with the animation, and is rather catchy. I tried to think of another bit that may have gone well with it, the only thing I could come up with was a slight key in of a piano or harp. But what you have is relatively great. I'm a curious how you decided on that as the audio?

Over all the animation is smooth considering its a stop motion. The story is short and a brief tale of a turtle on its way. No dialog is needed since the animation speaks for itself. The drawings were kept simple and not over done and definitely made it easy for erasing i'm assuming. I did however like the rocketship as it added a bit of complexity to the animation and the cave part, as compared to the other parts, added a bit of a new dimension to the animation as where everything else was side scrolling.

I liked it very much. Drawings were simple but on cue, animation was smooth and presentable and the musical bit was great. Continue the good work. =]

turtleco responds:

the music was more of a coincidence that it suited well

Now that's the stuff, TURTLES!

So what, the apple fell on the turtle's noggin and it (he/she? lol) discovered gravity for all turtle kind? I could believe it. Anyways, my point is I would have like a more meaningful ending. I liked the whimsical aura that the turtle created in his urge to jump around and explore the world around him, but as I wrote, more meaning to the events would have been nice. The animation style of draw, erase and repeat (and leaving trace marks behind) was original, refreshing and just plain cool. I also really liked your music that accompanied the animation. From what I could tell, it seemed like a very simple composer, but well executed. My favorite part was when it picked up as the turtle went sledding down the hill. I look forward to seeing what else you conjure up in the future, just keep it fresh.

turtleco responds:

yeah, you're right, but I truthfully never thought out how to end this thing :/ I had an alternate ending, but it came out wrong, so I decided to just do something else.

and I will keep it fresh, jus' for you
