Reviews for "Valthirian Arc"

Limited

Gets a bit boring killing bunnies after a few hours, plus the fame requirements just get stupid - how on earth are you supposed to make 1000+ per month?

it's fun but

the tutorial is far from good. What the hell are those faces in the corners of the characters? When is it good to graduate a student? How do you make a student become a specified class? Is it because i'm playing sandbox mode? why would i want more then four students? Can i send two parties at the same time? What are these stars at the quest screen? Dificulty? Then why do i never fail when i do an errand quest? More info would be nice next time.

All medals are in HARD MODE

Great potential for a sequel.

I like the cencept of the game, but there is much work that needs to be done. First, the gameplay. I played my first quest, and I knew it was gonna be boring. All you do it click. And Then when you do, nothing special or unique happens. The Next thing I noticed was how limited your options are. It said you could give your students exams and test them etc. I couldnt find that on my first play through. However, toward the end of it, when I knew I was already going to fail, I found a menu button. I had click through the menues so many times, but I never found the "organize student" button till the very end. It just didnt jump out enough apparently. Once I finally figured it out though, it was actually playable. I would also like to see some diversity in charecter classes. They all kind of seemed the same. the only thing I noticed is I struggled to play with a gunslinger. lso, when you recuit them, Id like to have like a potential rating, because a lot of times, the recuits that were rated lower ended up having higher final ratings than higher level recruit. A potential rating would help with that. In addition, Id like to know what somebody wants to be before they are level 10. As I mentioned, I struggled with gunslingers. If I knew they were going to be gunslingers, I wouldavoid training them. Last, I want a more responsive menu. sometimes the click was just off. Id click a 2 and it would click on something on the other side of the game. I spent about 4 hours on this game (I know its sad) and I can honestly say I hope for a sequel. you can make an amazing game from this. look at Punk-O-Matic. The first one was aweful, the 2nd one was pure gold.

Trading characters for points?

I really like everything about this game, except the point of it.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't played it... y'know... to exhaustion) but I'm supposed to spend time levelling characters in order to trade them for points?

Don't get me wrong, the presentation, the interactivity, the music, all excellent. Vivid, slick, retro-gaming with a kawaii-twist... all great!
I just don't get why I'm encouraged to throw away a character every four turns for nothing more than points that only extend the game.
Seems like the general choices are either:

-fail to get enough fame and eventually lose-
or
-endlessly level a sequence of new characters-

I'd play this til my eyes bleed, if only there seemed a point. I just don't WANT to throw away characters (=my time) in order to do something as mundane as carry on playing...

Can't fault the rest of it though. Beautiful game.
