Poignant and Profound.
I think those 2 words sum this whole thing up. This was an incredibly touching, beautiful game, and it was also rather unsettling.
It has given me, I think, a broader view of the world. It actually brought a tear to my eye.
The racer continues to race, showing one last time that he is a glorious racer among this race. Instead of losing heart, he persists and shows his passion,
Mell, a scientist, wanders aimlessly after finding out the world will end. His, I think, is the least touching to me out of all of the three endings, because he doesn't seem to have much purpose in life to begin with. His soul being is to find out the real ending.
It has always been about collecting. The quest to become.
Even after Najjii sees the world coming to an end, he still continues his search for the coins. It was never about worth, but rather the journeys the coins took the boy on.
His is the most profound ending of them all, and it is the most.... valiant? noble? I can't place it exactly. Honorable, maybe.
And to top all of that off, it is veiled within the dreams of children? I don't know where you come up with it, but it is wonderful.
Perhaps what I find so intriguing about this is the fact that perhaps we as a race can relate. I am not sure, but for some reason I did feel a connection for the people of this planet. Again, the word was unsettling.
To look at this game and to look for good graphics or good game play is foolish. That isn't what this is about. It has always been about meaning. The quest to become.
I love this game, not for the game itself, but the yarn you've woven, and I hold this in very high regard.
