Reviews for "Mecharon"

Quite a good game

Ok, I'm kinda short on time right now, so this is probably gonna be blunt and wordy:

First of all though, I'd like to bring some insight to the "bug" that people keep referring to - flash, in general, has a tendency to keep the last button, whether it be keyboard or mouse, pressed once you do a click inside a flash window and release the mouse button outside in games like this which auto-pause when you get out of the window. So, if you want to get stuck, click the mouse button, hold W down, bring mouse outside of the game window and release LMB. Then return and click resume game - there you are, nice and stuck on the left edge now. Just tap W again to get unstuck.

Now to the review:

Pros: Perks system, graphics, overall gameplay
Cons: Upgrade system, Prison keeper

The good stuff is obvious: lotsa perks, different effects, gotta think and build a strategy. The graphics and animations obviously speak of a lot of time spent at the drawing table, though my eyes too would be a lot happier with more distinct dead enemy frames, and increased contrast between enemies and the ground, in my case, this applies especially to the lava levels. Gameplay was fluid and rather enjoyable,

The bad stuff is not necessarily that bad - it's just that the idea of dropping certain weapons only through monsters that are scripted to appear at the end of only some levels means that the player might never get those weapons, and without the ability to re-visit those levels freely, this is not a good design decision - this makes the game less enjoyable on a single-run sort of play, I mention this, because if you miss a weapon, you're out of luck after that for a good while.
The prison keeper is another issue that would be easy to solve, the strategy suggested by the author would work, but the issue is not necessarily the strategy, the issue is that the random number generator simply does not generate as many little bots to get powerups from to make it possible to survive - every time I played this level, I managed to kill only 3 little bots before I got killed, even doing nothing but trying to hunt those, the keeper found me long before I could find a fourth one to kill.

Thank you for such substantial and constructive feedback!
I will take into account all my mistakes in further games
And about the prison keeper: there is no random number generator, next 3 bots appears, when you kill each 3 bots

Nice shot sir!

Good game with nice actions above level 3 :)
-> hard to take out thoose freakbags
, although it would be nice to have faster levelup in the game.
cheers

good fun

runs well, takes a bit to load, although the stats screen isn't straightforward, if you click it instantly dissapears then resets? also enemy seem to level up bit to quick

Very standard top down shooter, but well made.

Has a lot in common with all those other top down shooters but has some of its own uniqueness with the perks system. Lots of weapons keep it fresh, and are fairly balanced although the Machinegun is overpowered compared to everything before energy weapons. I liked that the enemies had excellent variety in their attacks, although they all act really static.

Animation is very smooth if simple. I like that the simplicity of the sprites meant that the game had absolutely no slowdown whatsoever even with my crap computer, so this game will run well with anyone. The backgrounds are a really dull, though, especially in the final chapter (Earth?).
Sound sounds stock, but is fair enough. Music did get repetitive after a while, would have been nice if it was a bit more actioney.
Story seems like you just put it in there for the sake of having one.

For those people having trouble with the final boss, this is what I did:

Take -There is no Spoon-, -Bonus Warden-, -Bonus Magnet-, -Mine layer (?)- and -Repair Drone- at the minimum. When fighting the boss, stand right on top of the turret. It can still hit you from there, but if you juggle the position right you can force it to miss while you'll have point blank shooting advantage. Use either the Ion or Plasma gun to deal damage to the boss, and switch to Railgun to take out those flying bots when they come. Pray that one of those bots will drop a shield, and keep going. If you get a level up (or saved a perk point from earlier), use the Full Repair perk to get another shield so you can concentrate on the boss. You should destroy it eventually if you have a little luck.

Thank you for your review!
Bonus Magnet is not necessary, because each 3 fighters drops:
1: shield
2: repairkit
3: random item (or nothing)

its ok

its fun and all but way to hard as u go, would be better if you could see the monsters better too.
