Reviews for "The Insanity"

Creepy

This game is not scary but deeply creepy.
It has a really good graphics/sound and the story itself is nice (butt he ending twist is rather predictable... or maybe that's just me)
The lesser point: the saw machine was a downer. It took me a pretty long time to figure out what to do and by the time I did, I kinda lost the scary feeling.
Keep it up, waiting your next work!

Almost perfect!

I really had a great time with this game. The story was a little bland, I mean, you could see where it was going. It would have been a great twist ending if the story was structured a little differently.
I liked the horror element, and it was definitly creepy. The artwork was nice, the music was perfect, but it would have been nice if the text was read out as well.
The gameplay was half and half. I liked the point and click (though the puzzles could have been a bit more challanging). The enemy fighting was challanging and done well, though, except for when the green dot came in, because it kept flickering on me and was a little too small to see right. It would have been nice if it was more sold.
I liked how, with the saw, you didn't get directions. It was realistic. Your character doesn't know how to run it, and neither should you. But it was a little aggrivating. It's hard to really find the line between annoying and challanging, so I can understand.
But, overally, a very entertaining game, and I can't wait to see another from you soon!

Well well now THAT'S what I call a helpful review.
The second game will feature puzzles that also have no explanation- the realism is intentional. It's your first time round you'll just have to be a quick thinker not to get killed. The puzzles planned for the second game are far trickier than the first one. I expect a lot of complaints but there will be a walkthrough available.

I fully agree the text would be better audible and it's not something I haven't considered but unfortunately there are two issues with that;
1) audio costs a lot more bytes than graphics and the game file-size would bump up too much. It was a struggle to fit the game in under 5mb, but it had to be done as there are many sites that's dont accept games over that mark.
2)I'd have to find voice actors. Anyone can read dialogue but can they do *good* voices and for essntially no pay. Hmmm...What I might do is have every character say one or two words when first meet them so that you at least have an idea of how they are supposed to sound like.

Most people didn't like 'The Machine' so sub-games that frustrating won't appear in the second one. I also felt 'The Machine' was pretty tedious at times but being the coder I obviously knew the trick of how to beat it and so it was easy for me personally. I'm also binning the battles for quick subgames and reflex action scenes.

p.s. in case you didn't know the alpha for the second part is up on the net - http://ydjapan.blogspot.com/
Let me know what you made of it. Thanks!

:) .............

I'm not finished yet and i love it so far, but damn!

You did your research! I looked up all those names and... wow..

Great job!

Now this is something

That I can really sink my teeth into.

I have to admit, that was pretty great
some of the parts were unclear like after you go through the red door, theres an arrow showing you can go right and an arrow showing you can go back, but theres nothing showing you that you can go up the stairs, so that was a bit unclear. Thats the only bad part of the game though because the rest was pretty damn good! Also if anyone is stuck at the combination, im not gonna give it away but its in the doctor's room where he keeps all of his notes, its a bit hard to find in there though.
