Reviews for "Super Mario 63"

Rocks Hard

This game was very fun and reminded me of the original super mario with super mario sunshine and other mario games.

Just WOW

i've seen other mario platformers on newgrounds and this stands out by far!

i havent beaten the game yet by far, but so far its great, i have seen other of these kind of mario games, they got repetetive after a while of playing.
the most annoying thing i kept running into was that there was not any way to save...
so 4 save files! you really thought of that! XD.
you also payed attention to the storyline and levels. most of them really are similar to mario 64! thats really sweet!

gameplay 9/10: |

the only thing i think that could be better (not that it is bad at all!) is the physics of the (leap in the air?)(air dive? i forgot the name...), like, for example:
when you just jump straight up in the air and then do that dive... you shoot abnormally fast forwards... i dont think that youre junping off of a solid wall of air right? it'd be nice if you'd keep the air travelling speed constant.

for all other possible things to rate i cannot say much about. they are like... perfect! really!

sound 10/10 |

all i can say about this is: 'WOW' its like exactly on the 'borderline' of stealing and tributing, well... you know where THAT is!
-------------------------------------

graphics 9.5/10 (if it was possible XD)|

also this is like... almost PERFECT! the only thing i saw that lacked was a way to see the sifference in background objects and actual rocks. (like in the bomb-omb battlefield for example.)
the rest really is in a great spot to be for a mario platformer; the 'borderline' between retro looks and ultra-graphics (for i call it like that), good job!

storyline 10/10 |

nothing better to this! its DEFINATELY NOT a rip-off of mario 64%u2122
its a brand new storyline that you made up yourself! nice job!
keep it up!

Good Luck!

The most amazing computer platformer to date!

Wow, I don't have much to say since I have yet to beat the game. But... So far, this has been the best computer platformer I have played. I have a few suggestions though if you make a sequel.

Level Designer:

- Your Level Designer can get very tedious at times. It's annoying if you want to place several of the same enemies. Yyou have to go back and click it each time. Make it consecutive.

- Every time I want to drag an item, the desc. box pops up. That's annoying, make it so we have to right-click it or something.

- Add Bosses! That would be awesome.

- Make it so we can have more than one "room". Do this by adding an option to have more than one grid. And we can go from room to room via doors and pipes.

- If possible, allow us to add a hub with paintings. So we can have a bunch of levels in one. We could make our own story mode!

Gameplay:

- Nothing to really complain about here. Just make some more "unique" enemies.

- This game can get repetitive. Add more to stages other than just the usual fighting a boss and collecting. Add some things that were in SM64 like races, slides, bunnies, and stuff like that.

Story:

- NEAR flawless. You should have used something rather than an "Orb of Power". That doesn't feel "Mario-ie". Something like the "Dark Sprite" would be more suitable.

I hope that was helpful. Very good work and I respect your time and dedication towards this project. Good luck for the future!

Runouw responds:

Actually, you can place more than one item if you hold Shift while placing it. And hopefully in a few days, the Newgrounds version will be updated with a few new Level Designer items, such as Level Transitions; in that case, one of your suggestions will be met.
