Reviews for "The Space Shooter DEMO"

It's alright.

There really isn't a need to release demos to Newgrounds. Anyways, the music sounds good, but the spaceship needs a health counter, the keyboard input needs to be fixed so it doesn't just stop moving when more than one key is pushed, and it needs some sort of point system. Longer levels would be nice, as would upgradeable weapons/shields, something like that. It's very generic right now.

RAWowner333 responds:

The demo is useful when you want feed back to see if you're going the right direction and/or to get good ideas so the game is better at the end. Thank you for your input

Nice

Graphicks = 5pts
Script = no pts.

It needs better hitTesting and you must be able to do EVERYTHING at the same time.

eh, could have been better

i couldnt beat the boss cause he fires to fast and you move to slow. and i would like to move ANd shoot at the same time. and fire more than 2 parallel lasers until the one laser goes away. just try to make it a little better next time.

Wow....

Overall it wasn't that bad but way to repetitive.

Mediocre and Generic Space Shooter

The game is your basic side-scroll shoot-or-avoid space game, with very little to add to the table, let alone something new. There were space rocks, space rocks that were twice as strong, ships, ships that fired back at you, and their varieties.

Your ship could move back and forth, up and down, but never at the same time, nor was there ever a good reason not to hug the left screen. Your ship was defined as a square, so an object could hit you without it visibly touching it. At the end of the level, you reached a portal that whipped you to the next level without any sort of introduction, announcement, or even sound.

There weren't powerups, bosses, a notification of damage, story (because a few sentences in the comments doesn't qualify), or anything to make this game unique or interesting in any way. This game felt like a test for ActionScript, not a demo.

There wasn't really that much wrong with the game, just nothing good about it. It's good to see some initiative though, so hopefully we can see a much more complete demo in the future.

Sincerely,
