a wonderful example of storytelling through animation with strong visual metaphors, and a great sense of atmosphere and mood. I especially liked the morphing of the friend character silhouettes, from hat to hair etc

As a storyteller myself, I have to say that was pretty good. Almost like a Grimm fairy tale. Congratulations sir. U have been 5'd.
The flash doesn't live up to the story.
That says less about what you made than your story-telling skills. You have a great theme here, and the voiceovers were good, but the accompanying animation seemed lacking. I had to go back and watch it to make sure I wasn't just holding it to too high a standard, but when I did, it seems to be more of a set of really great drawings with a lot of twitching text and minimal movement than a flash movie.
Great art and awesome story. Had the flash lived up to those, I'd call it deserving of first place.
