To Unforgiving to be any Fun
This game screams of something that has potential, but wasn't given enough time in the making to be even worth playing.
Its a simple concept of an arcade style-shooter, minus the fun plus the overpopulation in roughly less than 30 seconds. I gave it a total of 5 tries each time, but the game is a bit to RNG for my taste in the way they move and when/where they come in.
It wouldn't be so bad if there was an actual CHANCE at dodging all those enemies that enter around phase 3 (the blue orbs spitting bullets) but there is so much going on in a small space that you have a huge lack of maneuverability which kills your chances at living for a long period of time.
On top of that on being hit if your holding down a button to move you stop moving and have to hit it again to re-activate motion which is really the killer because that fraction of time you need to start moving again before being hit again is TREMENDOUSLY small and you have a precious few seconds of "immunity" before being hit again and then you just start your chain of deaths towards the end of the game.
I find something like that barrier nice, but it shouldn't be necessary to have to use it to actually play the game, because its an OSHI-- Button and this entire game is OSH-- after 25 seconds....
In short either make the playing field larger or have enemies spawn at a slower rate so there is an actual chance of living, even Gradius wasn't this hard... or maybe have it so we don't lose all our upgrade we scale back one death.
However, all of those changes would be required imo for it to appeal more than the uber-hardcore arcade shooter fans, and even then I doubt they got very far
