Reviews for "ELK Fables: Preview"

Has potential

The big key of this series will be whether or not it is funny. Theres not a lot you can tell from a preview. One thing is you can't tell how well the characters will move from the preview or what the voices and sound effects will be like. I think its ok, a little more refining, a storyline, and some good sound and you could make a good flash. Best of luck.

Dark-Frando responds:

Previews are generally always going to be hard to tell anything from, but I thank you for your review all the same =)

The time it takes to actually draw some of these characters and backgrounds (although that wasn't really seen in the preview) takes a few hours each. So to ruin it all with half-arsed sound effects and voices would just belittle my work. So I plan on going along to flash kit and other sound sites to get the best suited sounds I can find.

Again, I appreciate the review =)

wait for it

yeah... you look like you could have some possiblilty with doing well with flash. You have potential as an animator/
yet this teaser just looks odd. and pikachu? elks? whats going on? And can you be a little less anime-ish. Its overrated, overused and just plain over. Be unique. But all in all you have potential to make it here... so keep trying and make something bigger and better =)

Dark-Frando responds:

thank you, I hope to extend my animation talents as I progress through this series.

ELK actually stands for something that is revealed during the animation. To tell you here would ruin part of the story for you. The Anime style of drawing the people is my best way of drawing people, so my apologize if they get on your nerve. However if I try and draw them differently it would just be a strain to me and my animation.

With support of people behind me and them urging me on to continue the series, I will keep pushing myself to better myself until I am giving it my all =) thanks for commenting mate.

A nice teaser

I'd have quite a lot to say, but after reading a lot of the reviews, I'd say you've got some good tips already. Keep working on it and good luck to you - I know Flash can be complicated to learn to begin with.

Dark-Frando responds:

thank you, and as a rookie I can only thank those that have tried to help. I also appreciate you checking my previous comments just so you weren't repeating what other people are saying =D

Again, I appreciate the review and I thank you =)

not bad

As a preview it kinda flunked since your author comments gave more info about your idea then the flash did. Other then that the only thing I can really say about it was that it didn't run very smooth, and that's a hard thing to do on my computer. I see potential though and can only encourage you to keep at it. Good job.

Dark-Frando responds:

I was aware before placing the animation up that my comments would explain more than my animation would. However, with only author comments you wouldn't of grasped my ability in flash animation. All the while I could make the preview explain everything to you, it would take time. The concept of that time being blammed was purely depressing so... now that I see this one has made it through, I might consider making a proper fully animated sort of movie trailer that will list around 2 minutes mayhps more.

Your review is greatly appreciated and I thank you =)

Since you wanted reviews more than anything...

Your idea sounds good, but you only TOLD us what the story is supposed to be in the comment box of the animation page: you didn't SHOW us. Rule #1 of all filmmaking: if you can show what's happening instead of say what's happening, BY ALL MEANS, DO IT THAT WAY! I understand that this is only a teaser, of course, but the principle still applies.

Aesthetically speaking, your characters look fine, but you might want to work a little more on the backgrounds. Make them eye-popping and interesting. As they stand now, they're just a couple of lines filled in with some gradients. The key to making animation that really catches people's attention is in creating wonderful backgrounds that the characters can seamlessly interact with. If you work on that, people will notice, and it will show in your final score.

You've got a long, tedious road ahead of you, but stay the course and remember that though you may feel like killing yourself, ALL animation takes ridiculous amounts of time and patience.

Dark-Frando responds:

Now that I know that some people are out there that are interested and can see potential in me, I will make the efforts with the backgrounds and such. I've also acquired a pen tablet to help my drawings, but as of now I'm still getting used to it and couldn't use it that well to aid my preview.

I really appreciate you pointing out the first fact to me. Although in my mind I know what you said is true, I didn't exactly think about it when I submitted my animation. None the less, I am learning thanks to reviews like yours, So i thank you for that =)
