Reviews for "PONG: The Movie (Trailer)"

DOES HE HIT THE LAST BALL?!?!?!?

I must know...does he hit it?!?! Is the serve returned?! Please don't keep me hanging like that! Overall very amusuing flash!

Moose responds:

That's the point of a trailer man, to create suspense.

This is probably not going to be a movie, but seeing all the people wanting it to be done, I'll think about it.

Pong haha... what a game!

I don't think I have ever played pong but that was still amusing to be sure. The end bit was clearly the best.

Interesting...

I think the idea was humorous -- however, the gag started to drag towards the end of it. Basically you have all of the side characters reacting very similarly. Granted the idea of accomplishing that feat is clearly insane, I think you could've added another dramatic angle -- since you're already going over the top, why stop?

Maybe a love interest? (In a world where he was a PONG and she was a SPACE INVADERS, many thought the gap could never be crossed... You could have it so they meet when they try to buy the same type of controller and then they realize their worlds aren't so different after all?)

Perhaps throw in a training montage -- with some coach egging him on, while others are trying to discourage him. ("100 points?! You can't do it kid! Give up now!")

For a second animation, I am impressed, you've got talent -- and I figure you'll refine over time. I've watched it a couple times and it feels like your animation got a little sloppier towards the end of the trailer. Maybe you just wanted it to be over?

I think you should continue to submit your future work. Something I would hope to see is you develop your own style of character drawing. (Your characters were well-drawn, don't get me wrong.) But looking at the Top 50 animations in the Portal, many are from the same author and all of their characters have a unique flavor attributable to its source. (Same can be said for any type of media, whether it be a painting, music, or writing style...)

Basically, I'd like for you to be in the Top 50 eventually.

Hope this review helps!

Moose responds:

Thanks for the awesome review, man.

I agree that the reactions were the same, and that the writing was bland, but this kind of was written in about 10 minutes.

I probably won't make a whole movie (as explained by the updated description), but if I do, I'll definitely use the love interest/coach idea. I just had to keep the story in the bounds of the song that was playing. Audio synch was key for this to be effective.

I'll try submitting future work when it finishes. I kind of have a fairly unique style, but I needed to change it because I needed eyes with white backgrounds in them, for the eye opening scene. My style will be more dominant in other animations.

Thanks again. I don't think anything I make for a while will be in the top 50, but a daily something would be nice :D.

Awesome!

That was really nice. I enjoyed it a lot! I hope you will make some more awesome stuff!

Way to go!

I've seen alot of first attempts, and even though this is only your second, your trailer is comical genius! I'd love to see the actual movie submitted, I have a feeling it'll make many awards!
