Reviews for "Boink FX"

hmm awesome!

I really hear the way you used the Automation.
very nice effects in the whole thing.
I really like the way synths come in through the song too.
(and nice build up effect in the begging)

And for the kick
Very Bouncy indeed

I don't really like house
But this song makes an exception
It isn't as repetitive as usual house tracks due to Effects and such
And thats what makes it special to me :)

and uhhhh

What are transient shaping techniques?
lol, I don't know that much about effects and techniques
Enlighten me please :P

lol

In all

10/10 not you everyday house song, I guess
5/5 FX to the max!

Nice one :D

axeFX responds:

Transient shapers are designed to bring out the attack or release transients in a sample. So a kick or snare with a transient shaper on it, set to a high attack, will make the first few transients of the snare or kick louder, so it pops or clicks.

I dunno

Its something about this.......its just special i guess :)
Nice work!

Glad you like it

Transient shaping?

Like using a compressor to control the attack of the transiet? Or is this a whole other thing? I noticed relative to your other song, this one's kick is much much stronger. Also, sound effects here and there in your songs is probably mostly what characterizes your tunes. As the below person said, it's not as full sounding as it could be, maybe a pad and a bassline, but otherwise, not bad. 7 for okayness, 1 extra for that bangin' kick.

axeFX responds:

not a compressor, but similar. A limiter is the closest thing to a transient shaper. It's basically a limiter but more designed for shaping the transients of the sound. I'm sure it has other purposes but it quite simply adds 'click' to my percussion, by spiking the attack transients of the source sound.

Funky, but lacking meat

It's a pretty solid beat, although it's a little plain at the moment. You should start adding some bass lines to fill it out.

axeFX responds:

Yeah I can tell it's lacking some bass/meat. I stayed up all night mixing it on my headphones because of the volume levels... But I'm happy with the beat even tho theres TOO MUCH POP. On crappier speakers it sounds like somethings trapped inside and its trying to beat its way out... LOL I'm gonna go back to an earlier project maybe. That boing synth in the back had some sick automation on it, then I layered a bunch of other stupid shit on top and ruined it =/
