Unpolished, probably unfinished but far from uninspiring. I keep coming back to this year on year. Despite the flawed gameplay mechanics and the unbalanced/unfair difficulty at the very end I would and have recommend it to my friends.
The sometimes inevitability of defeat in the last mission makes managing my squads feel so authentic - insofar as I feel like a lieutenant with stretched resources fighting in impossible circumstances. A bit "last standy". I don't know if I've actually felt that from any game ever, at least not in the same way.
The music, while repetitive does greatly add to the overall immersion, which is this game's strong point.
Terrible presentation (menus), terrible mechanics, too short, dialogue is terrible, missed opportunity to put any story at all in, and yet because of the fighting screen control which I've seen nowhere else, the music and artwork and the most je-ne-sais-quois I've ever seen, it's brilliant.
AMBIVALENCE. ARGH.
