Reviews for "Nocturnal Letters (sized)"

Nice job!

Well done for a first flash! Creating a creepy atmosphere without relying on some quick spooks and loud noises is always good. I was slightly annoyed by some minor grammar mistakes, but the only real thing that bugged me was the image quality and poor lighting in some rooms. Still, nothing a digital camera can't fix.

Ms-Bowser responds:

Thank you! Yeah, I tried to avoid some clichés like that. Oh...grammar mistakes? Where? I should know better than that!

my only advice

Don't give us the walkthrough in the game descripiton or at least warn of spoilers lol. I loved the game though very spookkyyyy.

Ms-Bowser responds:

I'm very happy to hear that someone loves it :)

Nicely Done

Well done, my friend. Don't be so self-concious about the game (I can tell that you are by the notes). Yeah, the graphics were a little low-end, but you didn't make it so that I had to click on something REALLY REALLY specific to get what I was aiming for (except, perhaps the very last thing you had to do, but that wasn't affected by graphics). Good stuff. Oh, and if your boyfriend doesn't like it, dump him ;).

Ms-Bowser responds:

:) Hehe, thank you! Seems like a lot of people read the notes, yay! But I would never even consider dumping my boyfriend. :P

So very, very close to being a front-pager!

I quite liked this game, very interesting storyline and a very good plot, loved the outcome of it all, and I really thought the FF8 reference was cute, since I myself am a hardcore FF-fanatic. Don't let filesize get in the way of something being great! If you were to upgrade this game a bit with the graphics and sound, despite how short it is it would do exceptionally well.

Ms-Bowser responds:

Thank you :) Well, I've given up on NG-fame. My game is not mainstream (or "cool") enough for these boring Internet-gamers. I'm just happy if I can reach out to a few real gamers, such as you, and give them a good experience with my game

This will be my first review for Newgrounds, so bear with me a little. I'm a big fan of horror escape games, and I actually found Nocturnal Letters through one of those escape game websites. I loved the fact that it was story driven and that you didn't have to go crazy trying to solve endless puzzles or having to go back and forth from so many rooms. The atmosphere is nice and moody and it's matched by the music. I like the ambiguity of the ending and I do hope for a sequel. My only concerns about this game were the graphics at certain points, such as after Ivy looks in her sister's mirror, passes out, and reawakens, mostly because it's a little difficult to see. I also thought it would've been a bit more interesting if you were able to explore the green house or the parents' bedroom.

In closing, I thoroughly enjoyed Nocturnal Letters and will keep coming back to play it again.

Ms-Bowser responds:

Wow, thanks a lot! :)
Hm, I've noticed that my game has turned up on some of those weird sites ^^
The atmosphere is the thing I am most proud of, so thank you!

A sequel would be nice I guess, but I have so many other things I want to do. Horror games is what I like the most, so hopefully.... ^^
