Good game
Although it takes me too long to even HOOK a fish,let alone catch one.

Ok other than the fact Iexplorer blew up while i played this and i hadn’t saved in a while (isn’t that always how it is?) I enjoyed this game.. but a couple complaints.. not big ones..
my wrist hurts! all that winding,,. it was a cool idea but ow! lol
the letters next to the fish was an interesting idea but its hard to look at the letters press them and reel in at the same time.
plus its like 9 letters. it woulda been cool if it was WASD so that its mor comfortable and you arent tempted to look at the letters to make sure you hit the right one lol. plus it would be like you are moving the rod around if you used WASD... iunno just my idea.
Ive always liked this kinda fishing game. Natsume did one (Fisher king) where you walked around. But they dont like to ever advance their games lol harvest moon on the N64 is the same as the game cube graphically lol. So im glad someone took on the challenge.
still a very good game over all, i hope it makes front page so i dont have to search for it. lol

remember that you can turn on the reeling helper from the options, so you can save your wrist.
i find the WASD way too simple so i upgraded it to 9 letters... just a little practice and you can press the keys without looking. Ill put the WASD in the beginners mode.
i have never played a good fishing game, so i decided to make one. Good to hear you like it.
two major problems
I love the game, there was a lot of strategy involved and the details of the game showed that you put a lot of work into it. But one major problem- against the Boss many times when I used the Umbrella, while I had the Cannon's Crosshairs activated, the black circular crosshair would freeze. The red laser dot would still follow my mouse but the black circle would stop and I could not unfreeze the black crosshair immediately. I would have to keep clicking random buttons and use the A,S,D hotkeys repeatedly and if I was lucky I would get it unstuck. If not I would get killed. I use Firefox.
Second problem- after I had hit the Boss twice with my harpoon cannon, the green minion would no longer behave as it did (coming at me continuously while periodically spitting at me). It would appear somewhere and come at me for about a second (about as much time as it takes to get my mouse pointed at him) and then disappear into the water and then quickly reappear elsewhere without ever getting to spit at me or even get close to me. The red minion behaved normally. I had hit the Boss once, died (due to Problem One), went back to Tavern and Saved my game, got another hit on the Boss, Saved again, and then Problem Two happened.
A lil strategy guide for those being challenged:
In the beginning, focus your Experience points into Haggling. You won't be able to get big fish in the beginning anyway. Next in importance comes Dexterity, when you have enough money to start buying reel upgrades. Finally Strength when you take on bigger fish.
Catching fish: Use reeling helper. Start with your left hand in standard typing position, with left index finger on the F and the thumb on the Space Bar. But take your middle finger and put it on the 4 key. Use your right hand to operate the reel. When reeling, use the Speed that the game suggests as appropriate for the bait, but once you Strike, immediately and in succession press the SpaceBar with your thumb and the 4 key with your middle finger. Now you are reeling at max speed.
DO NOT TYPE THE LETTERS TOO QUICKLY! There are two types of letters- malignant ones when the Fish swim away and benign ones
where it lets you reel it in. If it's benign, it would be stupid to proceed to the next letter, risking getting a malignant letter and having the fish go further away from you. Instead allow your right hand as much time to reel the fish as close as possible. Just don't wait too long that you miss the letter and create line tension.
Line tension is your friend. Allow it to build up to about 60% when the fish starts to swim away- if you just let go every time the fish swims away it could get too far away, creating irreversible line tension and you'll lose the fish. Also, you CAN grab onto the reel while it's spinning and stop the fish from getting too far; hopefully you have enough line tension left over to cover this maneuver.
For a while I wondered: did catching a fish decrease my chances of further catching fish at the same location? Like in real life? Well after playing for hours I concluded that it did not. So you can stay in the same place until you run out of lure.
Thanks for reading. I have no fishing experience at all and learned a lot from playing this game. Perhaps a more elaborate Help file would help neophytes like me who have no idea what the difference between the different fish are or how to actually fish.

About the the boss fight bugs: The first one where you cant aim when using umbrella, isnt a bug :P I think it would be very stupid if you could just use umbrella and still shoot normally, then you would use umbrella all the time, wouldnt you? So you can fire cannon but not move the crosshair if you are under umbrella. To start aiming again, simply take your umbrella of by pressing the umbrella button or the shortkey.
The second one were one of the minion starts to jump around is a bug which i thought i already fixed... how ever it won't happen very often so I dont know if i wanna spent several hours to solve that.
I'm sure some people will find your strategy guide very helpful, so big thanks for writing it.
I think this is the final version of this game unless something very big shows up. All these kind comments courages me to make more good games. Right now i have many projects going on, i hope i get them all done.
This is just too hard
I'm really sorry, but this was just too difficult for me. Could you make the fish easier to catch? Or failing at that, could there be like a "beginners pond" somewhere in the game for us people who are having a hard time? I've played this for 45 mintues, still havent caught 1 fish!
