Reviews for "Sonic: Nazo Unleashed Pt1"

A Bad Copy

Firstly, you should make up something new. Secondly, you shouldnt use so much voises from DB an stuff. Graphics: nice but the edges were too clear and the movement was edgy. Style:Make up something new Sound: too many old clip Violence: i wonder how nazo was always healed

Rofl..

it IS a ripoff of dragonball z. You even used sounds from it.

The animation was terrible, yet the graphics were good. The Style was COMPLETELY ripped from dragonball z(which i don't like), and the story was rather slow. All that was interactive was clicking buttons. Overall, you get a 4.

Chakra-X responds:

Completely? come ooooon...And sounds, shmounds I say!

Your deeeeefiantly not gonna like the 2nd one unless you look past Dragonball Z =(

Tell me again this isn't DBZ

This is Sonic, Sonic uses rolls, speeds, jumps, and straight running into things in Chaos form. He's not that quick, and he wouldn't "teleport" with his basic speed. Everything, especially character emotions, "plot" developments, and battle scenes/effects reek of DBZ. This, of course, is obvious.

Chakra-X responds:

It isn't DBZ =X

Do you really want a movie where Sonic just rolls up ramps and attacks Nazo?

And if the speed of sound isn't "quick" then you have some high standards! That "teleport" is an animation effect, to signify great speed, and you are REALLY stretching it with "Character emotions". I think the only reason you say this is because of the disclaimer. I gotta take that thing down, it is causing the opposite effect I wanted =/

Overrated.

Graphics: based on the Sonic X art style, which I'm not a real fan of. On the whole, they could do with some improvement. I'm knocking off a point for Nazo in particular because, let's face it. Evil hedgehog screams post-Heroes Shadow, and the character design (which you admit is used on a promo posters) is too familiar to Silver.

Style: as you've admitted in previous review responses, the idea of 'good guy goes on revenge rampage' has been overdone. It begs the question though, as to why this movie is so similar to the aforementioned Goku/Freiza (sp?) fight.

Sound: hacking bits from the Sonic games and putting them together with one (or two?) new, untalented voice actors to plug in the gaps. Seems a mite bit lazy. Also, the song "Open Your Heart" featured, which gives you an extra point on top.

Violence: gut punches, the use of a gun (way to reference the godawful Shadow game, there), bruises that fade away and people that disappear in the face of gigantisised laser blasts... it strangely seems a little toned down.

Interactivity: naturally you're not getting many points for this, and it's not your fault for that, really.

Humour: absent, and it's probably better that way.

Conclusion: I can't say I'm fond of this flash. The idea of a mystery antagonist and DBZ-esque fights has been done to death now, even with the Sonic series. Granted the 'Dark Super Sonic' character was used - and if anyone else here suddenly thinks Digimon, give yourself a biscuit - which makes a change, but the execution of the idea on the whole is very sloppy.

Chakra-X responds:

Really? I only used color references from Sonic X, while basing the drawings (aside from Nazo) on the Sonic drawings by Sega.

"Good guy on rampage" I wouldn't think it's overdone. It has BEEN done, but not to the point that it's cliche to me.

I wouldn't call it lazy...Going through thousands of voice files, choosing the appropiate ones and editing some of them to make new sounds is hardly lazy.

But yeah like you pointed out, how could this be a Dragonball Z rip off plot-wise? I don't remember Goku going all evil to fight Frieza.

Powered up hedgehogs you say...

This would be better if it were not so blatantly and disgustingly thrown together with cliche dragonball z style fight sequences. I do not care if they are powered up hedgehogs, I saw the disclaimer, and that did not bother me. But the fact that it was saturated with Dragonball Z nonsense that just took it a bit too far for me. All in all this flash is essentially Dragonball Z combined with Sonic the Hedgehog. Good animation, poor choice of most other things.

Chakra-X responds:

Fair enough. But if Dragonball Z was this very unpopular show that the average person had no idea what it was about, it wouldn't matter (obviously).

But that's just it: The fact that there is Dragonball Z influences in the attacks (NOT the story) should not lower the entertainment value, unless you just don't happen to like that style or it was saturated with DBZ.
This, however, is not saturated in my eyes, but for those who are only somewhat familiar with Sonic might say so.
