Reviews for "Mario's Blocks"

I am Impressed

At first I was thinking that this would be just most other animations made mostly of sprites. But I must say that this animation just got better and better as it went on. I am Impressed.

UberAoC responds:

A big reason for the animation quality getting better as it went was the fact that the first five scenes were made back in March. Took a LONG break, finished a few other toons, came back to this and did as much as I possibly could! It's good to see that impressed someone who's been using newgrounds for a while! Thanks man for the awesome review!

Really good

This was pretty damned good. You stood out among the Mario Bloopers so that's an achievement. I like a lot of them, but there are some really lame ones out there. My favorite scene is the last one actually. Luigi pops in with his badass self and tries to show up Mario, only to die almost as horribly as he. Funny stuff. Chain Saw guy and Spike Block are good seconds. I was hoping the Fulp bot would crush Mario in a horribly bloody way but the end result was good too.

As for graphics: I'm glad you used sprites. I mean, the stuff you drew was good (except the shotgun, heh) but what better way is there to parody a videogame than with using the game's own graphics? A lot of the drawn stuff on this site is so bad they make me want to rip my eyes out. But the hybrid of both sprites and original drawn stuff you had made the flash more entertaining as a whole. Good work.

UberAoC responds:

Again, it's good to see another fan of the last scene! The finish should always be the best part of a flash, in my opinion. Getting eaten by a gigantic worm is a pretty miserable death!

I tried to curb the flash from getting TOO violent- it allows me to get my flash out to a wider audience. Too much gore detracts from the overall humor.

Ah, and the last shotgun comment I will hopefully recieve! I'm going to make a slight update and make that thing look better. I love the nostalgia of the old sprite graphics, and mixing that with my semi-decent artistic abilities gave the flash a unique flavor.

Thanks for the great review! I like to see how people thought a scene was going to end!

Mario's misadventures were original.

Clever escapes but I'm sure these adventures gave Mario a lot of nightmares. Variety of scenes kept me watching.

UberAoC responds:

Mario's going to have a tough time recovering from all that trauma. Poor guy just can't get a break sometimes!

The variety WAS an interesting part of this sprite flash. As I went, I wanted to make each progressive scene more unexpected and random than the one previous. I'm glad you liked it!

Thanks for watching and leaving an awesome review!

Good stuff

This was thouroughly deserving of my 5. Looks like you put a lot of work into the flash and it shows. I liked the N64 Mario cannon scene, and the look back on the story of the flash.

UberAoC responds:

Indeed, I spent a good amount of time assembling this little presentation. I'm glad that so many people appreciate the quality of the end result!

N64 Mario cannon was, in my opinion, a seamless blend between the 16 bit sprite world and the 64 bit Mario world. I very much like it! Glad you did too!

The flashback was great, eh? If that stuff happened to me, I'd have a nervous breakdown and visions too! Poor Mario :( .

Thanks for the excellent review! (and the 5, that's VERY good!)

Why does Mario always die?

But atleast Bowser and Luigi got it in the end. >=D

UberAoC responds:

They sure did! Wonder why Bowser didn't laugh like he did in all the other scenes? >:)

Thanks for the awesome review!
