durn responds:

:) aye, I'm using new software so I'm having a lot of fun lately. :D and yeah, I'm never really sure what to classify my stuff. :d

thanks for the listen and the love! :D

very well played

love it

durn responds:

well thank you, kind sir! :)

Nice...

Once again, a very good.

I found this song to be a little repetative and at times very strange. At the beginning I think you continued to play the same basic pattern over and over again, which became a little boring after a while. In comparison, the buildup at 1:00 was a very good! But at about 1:55 the echo (Not really sure what to call it) affect almost made the entire thing seem slightly off tempo. But at 3:00 I found you pulled it back together again!

So not what I believe to be one of your best, but very good none the less!

durn responds:

during the intro it's the bassline that's progressive. stays in one note and then slowly branches up a scale. and, believe it or not. I used the same melodies throughout the -entire- track. :) I just switched which synths played what and changed the root melody to achieve different harmonics. Was trying to keep it simple and see what I'd come up with.

I don't really hear the problem at 1:55 but some others have also mentioned something about a blur of sound. Must be happening on the left stereo cause my hearing's weaker in my left ear.

Thanks for the honest review, ghostlight. :D

Good stuff

Wow. That's all I have to say. Literally. Every time you create a new song, it gets better and better, not that your other songs are bad. To me, this song feels really, I don't how to say this, but, HAPPY and JOYFUL, and I guess PLAYFUL. The beat makes it so joyful. This song is just as good as Give or Take, but with a more playful hint to it. By the way, I like how you make it so that the song itself can be looped so nicely. This song and Give or Take have the same thing, a nice transition from ending to beginning again, that is, if you looped it, which in my case, is true, and I like....no. I LOVE it.

Thanks again durn! You make any time of day a good one with your epic music!

durn responds:

:) I blame Ren & Stimpy's Happy Happy Joy Joy song. I think it tainted my soul with unrequited glee. :d

Hehe, I actually tried not to make this one loop so much as people keep telling me I should end my songs... but I'm with you, :P I love a good loop. :D

Thanks for the kind review, Injabie. :)

Good sandwich making music

The other day I was listening to your tune while making a sandwich and I gotta say, best damn sandwich I've ever made! The lettuce was crisp, tomatoes juicy, and the meat and cheese didn't stick together like they normally do. Perfection!

Now I'm not saying your song directly improved my sandwich making abilities, but I won't rule it out either, I was even surprised myself when I was done.

That's why I've gone ahead and made a mix tape of all your tunes for this week so I can test out my theory while making my lunches. So keep making good tunes, and hopefully I'll keep making good sandwiches.

cheers man

durn responds:

it's all the years I spent working as a sandwich artist at Subway. it infuses everything I do with a certain lettuce-like crispness that ends up translating into the listener's sandwich-making movements.

I've been considering approaching Subway to play my music in all their stores, I think they'd finally have a nation-wide consistency in sandwich goodness were that to happen.

thanks for giving me the courage to take this big leap. ;)
