Reviews for "You Do It To Yourself"

This popped into my head all of a sudden today for no reason. Which is weird, considering I haven't heard it in well over a year.

Great job.

Feels sad

~~REVIEW~~
This was nice has a good steady feel and keeps going that way for abit, which is nice, thats what kept me interested, Now it was somewhat hard with what was sang and all but maybe that was the music and lyirics not being matched up exactly, You gave this a good beat and it has a sorta {SAD} feel to it all and such, but i suppose thats the sort of emotion you wanted, but in anycase its a pretty decent piece and i really enjoyed it, maybe you can add more of that but this is an older audio track anyways i like it, keep up the good music.

~~THINGS TO IMPROVE ON~~
I had suggested some more sad emotion in there you already have some of that more of it wouldnt hurt either.

I LOVE IT

I really really really love THIS! :)
the lyrics are awesome.. This song came to my life just in the momment i needed it..
Thanks

Confused Mind

Hey, thanks for writing to me about your latest song. I don't go on very often, so I apologize for the delay.

I thought this song had a rather soothing type of melody. A totally different feel from October Massacre. It's a lovely beat, but the lyrics seem to confuse me...

Nvm what I just said, I had to read the title to clear out my confusion. lol I guess I wasn't reading it right after all. But then it's rather rattling because the melody seems so happy and uplifting.

Took me forever to get around to it, but...

Gotta say my friend, I love the feel of this one as it goes, and your choice of method for handling the voices gives it a quasi techno ehtereal sound to it, and I like this very much, as it's the technique of yours that drew me to you innitially.

Sadly however.... I don't 'feel' this one like i do your other serious works... and why this is I can't placea finger on. Normally I'm partial to songs that don't have lyrics, or rather, don't use words for their meanings but for their sounds, and if this makes me somewhat biased, then so be it.

And yet, in my inability to Feel this song, I get the sensation that I am missing out on something crucial, or Rather, that the song and I both are missing something crucial to it's wholeness and my enjoyment of it.... but.... this 'hollowness' is rather addicting in it's own way, if you follow what I'm saying.

I apologise for not being able to offer any technical aid music wise, but I feel that sometimes one needs a solid review from a person who knows nothing of music other than what he likes, or feels in the Music. Either way, I hope to hear more work from you soon man. and again, sorry for the 0 stars on my last review, I'm still kicking myself over forgetting to set the stars.

merlin responds:

I actually totally know what you mean. It has a bit of an emptyness to it. I guess I took too many synth-dance instruments to a song that would probably be more felt if I left it a little more natural and raw. I think the music didn't really catch any of the emotion from the lyrics. Sort of lost momentum when I got close to finishing this song, and I always feel like if I don't ever post it, then it'll just gather dust in my hardrive.

Perhaps where I went wrong, was in not adding many effects to the song. To sort of fill it out. It was an interesting song for me to work with, as well, because I suppose I never really agreed with what the song was about, or rather who it was about. Creativity/inspiration is a bitch some times. And girls can be too.

As always man, I love your reviews, and I'm so grateful you take the time to listen to my stuff. I feel like we think a lot alike, and it's refreshing!

Regards,
merlin
