Reviews for "Gekisen card game"

needs to be refined

first and foremost, there is a gross lack of attack cards making a battle takes forever. second, most of the card r useless in most situations. to take that one step further, sometimes any card in my hand would actually benefit the opponent (hehe, this was especially true when the comp cut off "3 of my arms" thus reducing my hand to 3... i never drew stitching that match either). third, trying to play cards together that would benefit each other is almost impossible because of the sheer number of card types and how slowly new cards r drawn. for example.. i was dealt 2 "dishonorable blow" cards the first round, i saved them thru the entire match (which lasted more than an hour) and i never drew a single card to make the opponent bleed, which would have resulted in a bleeding level of 4 minimum. i understand that the player is not supposed to get the cards thay want all the time... but having the card drawn be random is a little silly... the deck should be cleared out before it is reshuffled (unless perhaps both people draw from the same deck???). fourth, im not sure what hazumi does besided when combined with a card directly. as in 10...20...30..? i think my attack and defense each raised by 1 for every 10 points of hazumi, but if that is all hazumi does then its really not worth it considering attack and defense will be changed by regular card much more often and in greater degree. not to mention the cards that hurt u more the higher your hazumi is. fifth and lastly, i felt your desription in authors comments was a bit inaccurate. for me this game playes much slower and less lethal then Magic.

all in all u have build yourself the framework for a very nice game. with minor adjustments u could make the game much faster and have a much srtonger sense of urgency.

It's an okay game.

I'd like a better explanation of the game, however. For instance, I do not know how to search for a tournament. Is it something that randomly happens to me after I fight a battle, or do I have to do something special? Furthermore, I don't know how to get powerups. Perhaps it is because I have never played a tournament, but I'd like to be able to get the powerups that are mentioned in the game. Not the in-level powerups, but the ones that affect the game in the long run.

Too longwinded, somewhat broken

There are three main problems with this game that need mentioning:

The first problem is, of course, the fact that most of the cards will do little to nothing when used. Of course there are cards like offence boosters and defence boosters but they don't do much when you are adding say, 1 or 2 offence points to one of the numerous cards that do 1 or 2 damage. The only real cards that do anything are cards that induce bleeding or cards that do upwards of 5 damage, or more. That and cards that heal you, and maybe the stat boosters.

This leads to another huge problem. The fact is that the game is incredibly slow paced and it takes many turns to draw certain cards that deal damage, especially when you're opponent can make you get rid of all of them at once with one card. This leads to the problem of cards that deal bleeding or let you regenerate: having one blood point may not be many, but since there are only 2 or 3 cards which solve the problem of bleeding and there's 75 cards or so you can be bleeding for quite some time before drawing them, and even then it could be too late as the opponent could have gained a huge lead which you can't come back from.

The same goes for regeneration, as there's only one card which stops it short of curses, which are only temporary, which means that if you come to a standstill and neither player draws any damage cards (which happens quite often), the opponent will keep gaining life and short of dealing damage every turn or having several reflect points it's pretty much impossible to win short of giving them bleeding points or inquisition to balance it out.

The last problem is that there are too many worthless cards that deal 1-2 damage or heal for 1-2 points and not enough cards that help status attributes and the sheer number of cards for dealing 1-2 or other worthless things outweighs the amount of useful cards such as vorpal blade heavily, and it takes way too much luck to get them.

Overall, the main thing that needs to be fixed in this game is balance. Having a deck editor and point values for the cards (to prevent having all bleed and regen cards, for instance) or just slimming the deck to bare necessities would probably fix most of these problems

Nice idea but...

You should improve the battle system because I simply had no movements in sometimes because there are few offensive cards.

unfair

Yes, it's an unfair game, not only becouse it's only about luck, but becouse even luck is altered somehow. Becouse I can't belive it to be normal, that during a tournment the enemy almost always has the right card in the right time, and one single enemy can decrese my hitpoints from 118 to 33, and I don't get a chance to rebuild it even in the next fight! And how the hell can I become permanently poisoned? Ok, maybe that poison thing is just a bug, but then the same should happen to my enemy sometimes too.
The trainings are ok, I never lost one, but how am I supposed to win a tournment when I never get decent cards?
