Reviews for "Pico Sim Date"

Great Game!

I checked this out after seeing the sequel, and it's pretty good! Difficult, but interesting. A prime example of great Dating Sim Games.

One of my favorit games

this game is so awsome, u can easily beat it if u skill all ur stuff op to thw max (250) and get the girl just remember if u dont have her as a close friend by day 73 tho ur skrewed trust me ino, day 72 and ur ok :D.

A Pico themed date simulator that is actually nice

When I first looked at the link to the game I figured that the theming would be pretty mild and it would be a fairly run of the mill date simulator. I was actually quite surprised by how nice of a game Pico Sim Date turned out to be.

First of all the graphics are actually fairly decent and have a bit of an anime take on the look of the characters—a byproduct of the genre mixed with Pico. Nene actually looks rather worthwhile dating and far from her normal existence as the popular girl with a death wish. In fact the game actually has several different images for the basic interaction screens with her. Some of these images are drawn better than others, but overall are fairly good for art drawn entirely by the creator. Images of assailants were decent enough as well as the weapon effects for the battles.

Sim date games tend to have the same formula with Strength, Intelligence, and Charisma. Most of the times these games utilize the same devices to increase these stats (alcohol to increase the Charisma stat). All that usually differs is how tired each one makes you and how much each activity costs monetarily. This game diverges from that slightly by having a slightly improved version of each stat altering activity, but it costs you more money for the extra service. I found the little bit of anime style humor with the teacher's "private tutoring" fairly amusing. Since the better stat altering activities cost money income becomes even more important than in other games. Now a little bonus that makes this a bit easier comes in two forms; you have 1 attempt a day to get a promotion that changes the base value of the cash you earn and the chance of getting the promtion goes up with the amount of intelligence that you have. The second way of earning cash is by picking it off of defeated foes; this is more of a bonus as the amount of cash can vary and you might end up getting gifts instead of cash. So this game leans very heavily toward you being very intelligent to fund your activities, then has you focus on strength and charm as the fights on the way to flirting with NeNe become more frequent and the days to become her boyfriend dwindle.

The only parts that bothered me in particular was that you could only go on 3 dates with NeNe and you had to be successful with 2 of them. What makes things even more difficult is the fact that she has around 20 different statistics and favorites relating to her for Pico to remember. Now you only get one piece of information from her per interaction and this is only when she's girlfriend status. Each session of flirting costs 20 energy out of your total of 100. Now keep in mind that you get a random piece of information each time and so after the first 10 pieces of unique information you often get repeats. The good thing is that if you're playing the game right you've maxed out your intelligence, you're top of your job, earning a good amount of cash, spending most of it between getting stronger and getting charismatic before even talking to her once, and have loads of money. So if you're charismatic enough and can purchase enough gifts as well as deal with the battles on the way to courting her (if you lose a battle you lose 3 days) you can get to learning about her fairly quickly.

Sound wise this game has a few basic beats here and there to fill a few of the empty spaces. There are a few sound effects and they're appropriate, but I figured there might be a few more sounds effects for certain activities and events.

Violence was pretty minor as it was contained purely to the battles and really wasn't particularly gorey aside from some relatively "minor" bleeding (this is a Pico game we're talking about, usually people gush more blood than has been used in every martial arts movie ever made combined). Battles do have nicely NG and Pico themed attacks.

Humor was pretty pretty much confined to the few text cut scenes with Darnell, Pico, and Pico Jr. However, once again I'd say the bit about the teacher's "private tutoring" was fairly amusing.

Amazing Moosh

Absolutly Amazing And Stunning I Loved This Game Keep Up The Good Work :D

oh boy...

two chances in three dates made it pesky! gah, now i have to start from scratch agiann!!!
