Reviews for "Moon Miner"

not mario...

unlike the last guy, who thought this sucked, i think it is a marvoulous game! notice the way i cannot spell... yah... i liked it, but i did accidentally hold down the buttons, which made it go up and down, it looked like it was 'lovin' the ground!
above par, way above par, no mario, but BETTER!

Nice

A fairly simple concept, but you helped to make a simple concept lots of fun by adding great animations and a great plot. Great work.

haha

nasa kicked me in the balls

Hm...

Not sure if this was a good or bad game. It's improbable to say the least, lol, but I dunno. Perhaps martians or some other classic space enemy would have been a nice addition, but that sounds a lot like NASA. Lol I'm glad to have opposed such a massive company.

All the same, neat little concept, though a replenishing health-bar (somehow) would have helped a great deal. I only played it once, because it took so long to move and the concept didn't appear to be changing very much at all. Overall though, it wasn't so bad. Not too shabby.

Room for improvement

I think you've got a solid start here; an original idea with nice graphics. But there's a lot of ways you could improve your game, mostly taking cues from what other games do:

- shooting the enemies didn't do you much good, it only shaved off a fraction of a second before you could safely come down. One solution is to shoot to the sides or have a bomb that clears the screen. It would also be more worthwhile if shooting the rovers earned points.
- make the game more forgiving so you don't have to restart from the beginning each time. To do this add multiple lives, or a password for each level
- in the later levels it's really annoying spending all your time waiting for the slow rovers to cross before you can drill. Maybe they should all be about the same speed in a level
- the keys weren't intuitive. I think it would work better if there was just a drill key you hold down to drill instead of switching into a separate 'mode' you stay in until you press the key again.
- the game can go on forever. Maybe this just seems weird because old arcade games couldn't be designed like this (if the guy leaves the game you want the game to end so someone else can play). At least this way you don't need a pause button. Maybe replace flying mode with jumping, or a shield with limited fuel
- powerups! Such as: bonus points, bombs, higher jumps, shield power, body health, drill health, or faster drilling/walking. Powerups could be scattered on the ground and in the air
- lastly, how about doing something more creative with the moon environment? A lunar lander game for instance uses the facts that the moon's terrain is varied, and its gravity is low. Think about how you could make it more interesting given the environment
