Reviews for "Sprawl Metropolis (Old)"

From the animator of "Ghostbusters: TAS"

I'll try keep as unbiased an opinion as possible in light of our connection with GB: The Animated Series, Brad.

Firstly, I see similar comments here as with the early GB: TAS episodes, such as issues with sound and background art... the backgrounds are really up down to whoever draws them... but if it's possible, it might be worth looking over the settings of sound recorder to get the best overal audio effect.

The story seems... a little disappointing. Sections of the dialogue seemed a little cliched and also seemed a bit of a step back from "Cabin Fever". Though, the creator of the series doesn't have to write it... just ensure the plot works to their vision.

Sound wise, it was okay... though I cringed a little when a car tyre squeal was used for the main character sliding across the rooftop.

Character wise, despite the DBZ overtones of the original designs, I kinda liked the concept art better then the final stuff.

Certainly an interesting looking animation, but with areas for improvement, and don't feel chained to doing something that might fall into the average anime cartoons you see today... try use stuff that brings fresh and new content to a stagnant genre.

Tanuki-Go responds:

Thanks for the honest review man! I understand your dissapointment with the backgrounds, I find them to be very flat and boring myself. (Couldn't change them since I was already 80% done.) The story, however, is going to be a little spread out since this was originally only half of the episode but it got too long.

Anyways, honest reviews like this are a great way to improve things. Thanks again, man.

bleh

I thought this submission was a little to cliche, both in dialogue and in plot. It was nothing "new or interesting" to me...

Not that Im trying to seem rude or harsh, but it just reminded me of those cheezy saturday morning cartoons for 5 year olds...soo....cliche...

Nothing special

Well... I gave you a 5 on graphics, because you did do a good job of animating the blob when he was attacking the man (throwing him through bridges and throwing punches). Style is 2 because theres nothing unique about your drawings. Sound is 4 because you did do a believable job of syncing up voices. The rest speaks for itself.
Overall, your artwork wasn't great, the story was lame and unbelievable, I'm not a fan of anime styled work, and there were too many confusing camera angles. Try using less tweening, because you really made some wierd looking things with the tweens.

Doesn't really deserve a 3.99

Graphics - I really don't like your art style. It's too corny. Also, people are impressed by the '3d' effect, but it's really not hard to do.

Style - A mix of Samurai Jack, Fable, and Zelda. Not original at all.

Sound - Good voice acting and sound quality, though it was really corny.

Violence - It needs it.

Interactivity - Quite a few buttons.

Humor - I don't think it's supposed to be funny, and its not anyway.

how in the hell.

how the hell did something this boring get to the front page! i felt like i could have done millions of things in the time that this flash has taken away from my life. this is not just a flame but a outraged newgrounds person wishing that you would quit making flash animations!

but in an over all review of your flash it was cheese, bornig, and over all the story was bad! the animation was the only good thing! if i kept the sound off i think that it would have made your flash alot better than it was with sound on.
