Reviews for "Dragon Wizard"

Some of the most fun I've had on Newgrounds.

The game looked good and was animated very well. Sound was simplistic, but worked well enough. The real strength of this game is the gameplay: the difficulty is spot on throughout, and the different level styles force you to plan out your purchases, rather than relying on one strong weapon the whole way through. Speaking of the weapons, fantastic job of making each unique and suited to a certain purpose. If I had one gripe, the text used for the small story blurbs was very hard to read.

Good

I really liked this game. Most games on here are really basic, but you actually had complexity to yours. I liked the fact that you added a lot of spells to it. The levels did get pretty hard later on, but I liked that. More of a challenge. It seemed like a game you would have to download to play. Anyway, good job. Make more.

Great Game

This ranks up there with the best of the games on Newgrounds. It entertains for quite some time and doesn't get old the first time you play it. The graphics are damn good, although the placement of the ballistas on the background map looked rather silly. What really puts this game above other overhead shooters is this: other games only have three or so weapons that you can only grab when an upgrade randomly appears, whereas this game actually rewards you for trying to kill everything by letting you purchase and keep all of your spells. The money system really makes the game interesting by forcing you to plan your weapons purchases and maximize your revenue by going after expensive foes. It also provides replay value, because you cannot purchase every weapon in a single game.
The downsides of this game are few and fairly inconsequential. First of all, there is no pause button, which should be a requirement of every game (besides Cyrkam Airtos). Second of all, occaisionally, my weapons buttons would not respond. Speaking of which, there should be a way to change the controls, because trying to press numbers one through 6 AND "F" is irritating, which brings me to my next point. I bought the flip upgrade, and it doesn't work. Finally, the music is repetitive (although appropriate) and there is no music/sound on/off button.
One final suggestion that I have is an option at the final screen to replay the game at the end with all of the weapons and money you earned by the end of the game. That's always entertaining.
All in all, wonderful game. Keep up the good work.

liked it

and the music was really cool
