Could use some work
I know you're working on it, and it's definitely not a bad start. I don't really care if you ripped the Tetris code or not, but as long as you present it well enough it should be okay.
I know you're working on adding new backgrounds, but I have a few suggestions. If you're going to have brightly colored blocks, choose a darker background. Also stay away from the current backgrounds. There's nothing tackier than a tiled background, especially the NG tank logo. The reason that's a bad choice is because it has both dark and bright colors on it, and after awhile it can really bother the eyes. Actually, a great background would be the one NG uses on its webpage.
I think all of the menus could also use some work. I can't place my finger on it, but they look tacky as well, a little too amateurish. But keep up the great work, and I hope our suggestions help your project.

Just one complaint...
I was playing for only a short while and after getting rid of about 3 lines, the game sped up quite a bit. Maybe it's just me not being able to handle speed, but I have never seen a tetris game that put you at such a disadvantage so fast.
