Reviews for "Road to Serfdom"

Three things

Some of the transitions were "so fast" I didn't have time to take in the picture with the words above. I'd suggest letting the viewer choose when to move on with a button. Philosophy, and by consequence, political theory is not meant to be shoved down the throat of the student. Let the viewer linger on the words and integrate them with the picture below.

Secondly, while it was nice overall, these are obviously just scanned pages. The looming music was a nice touch, but original artwork is much more appreciated. A few of the folks around here have taken the text from a philosophy and incorporated independent images to match ("Philosophy of Liberty" comes to mind.) Originality will definitely boost your score.

For being unoriginal art, the filesize was just too large. Even original art scans would have warranted a slightly higher score.

Anenome responds:

You have a point, but the primary motive here is message transition, not artistic appreciation. Furthermore, NG has for whatever reason shrunk the movie vertically by about 15% which has significantly degraded the image quality from my original file :(

As for the transitions, you do have to read pretty quick, but if you do you should have time to see the pictures in full. I'd rather keep the ability to match the music to the proper point emotionally in the movie than make it a button-progression movie. Instead, just watch it again to absorb it all. Messages are best absorbed when you don't have to advance them manually, like tv, IMO.

Yes...

I totally agree with Denvish. Let's show a little more talent next time. Then you can grow from making shit, to making crap. Yeah, won't that be FUN?

Awful

Stupidly large filesize, due to scanning pages in (did you get copyright permission?) and uncompressed music. You could at least have used a decent graphic editor so the text didn't look like shit. Music was OK, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about this. Crappy flash, shows no skills whatsoever.

Anenome responds:

1 meg = movie, 3 megs = music. If you don't have DSL or cable sux for you, those of us who do, so what if there's a 10 second wait to download four megs. The tradeoff is good music quality.

As for the text quality, I'm surprised myself. The browser, or perhaps NG, has shrunk the movie by about 15%, which has made the text hard to read and degraded the image quality significantly. I don't know why this should happen, perhaps NG has a vertical limit it enforces, my original file is much easier to view.

Either way the movie gets its important point across, which was my intent.
