all 3 movies where great when it came down to the art design and the art itself helped to give meaning to the movies the first movie was a bit odd and i really couldnt catch the meaning of it but the last 2 where great in exception of the rape scene, the way the ghost flashed on the screen the way the demon changed colors as it emerged the way the scene repeated over and over as if in the mind of a depressed amnesic or something every aspect tied into another aspect, BUT overall it left alot to be wanted it seems to me that it simply boils down to alot of blood and suicide scenes

As most everyone is commenting on is SickDeathFiend. So likewise, I shall do the same. Many people ou there have said that the rape scene is quite disturbing and a bit much. I have to respectfully disagree. I think it was done in good taste and that it acomplished what it was suppossed to - to make people say "that is so disturbing." The point to the rape scene was not to make people giddy with excitement, it was to make stomachs turn and to discomfort people. And based on the comments, it did just that - so why is everyone at arms against the scene. If there were reviews that read "I loved that scene, it was AWESOME!!!! LOL!!1" then that is when we should question the relavancy of the rape.

So for you three authors good job. Each of them had a unique style with their own way to scare.
I particularily enjoyed Jack-Skellington's portrayal of the man hung. It was asthetically beautiful with a morbid twist.
SickDeathFiend I really don't need to comment on. I have expounded on you a great deal.
And Shawn Hollern's flash was good too. I was a bit confused with the concept but I enjoyed it a great deal - especially with the characters who stood in front of the mirror rocking back n forth with their heads shakin frantically.

Was this too artistic for me? If i'm just an avg person, then i think it'll probably b too artistic for almost every1 else aswell. That's y NG needs real critics!! ahah

It's difficult to rate this, but I'll rate it anyway... based on all the stuff that I did manage to understand.

1st with Jack's
I thought the art was great, nice style etc... but I didn't understand what was going on. The girl goes to the lake, there's some guy hanging in a room, and at the end there's this repetitive scene where the wierd guy's head seems to fall lower and lower. I dunno, don't get it.

Then with SickDeathFiend's
I felt that there was no need for the child-rape scene. Things like that get banned from cinema, showing actual penetration for a rape scene. And as if that wasn't bad enough, it was to a young girl!!! There are more creative ways to show that scene without it being so graphic and inappropriate.
I actually got a tiny scare when the lil girl ghost appeared, so good job with that. This piece is probably the one with the most scare-factor out of the 3. Scary b/c of that hallway scene, and even more so that some1 out there might actually get turned on by the site of a naked lil girl. Get rid of it man!

Last but not least, Shawn's
I've been a fan of your work for a while now. When I just started becoming a regular to NG (1 yr ago) your piece on NG Jam #3 (Art Gallery) was the 1st great f-b-f flash I saw, so I admired your work.
I like things to have artistic meaning, but I felt that maybe your piece here didn't really fit the 'horror' genre, it wasn't horrific or scary. It could've been, but it wasn't.
I watched it twice b/c I read that long-ass review and your reply to it, and I understand why you did what you did. But still, I felt that you didn't need to repeat those scenes that much to get wot you were trying to get across (that they were bullied and therefore commited suicide) Was there more to ur piece? Perhaps, but I'm not that artistically clever to figure it out. Good job anyway, I liked your use of 3D.

Overall, I enjoyed it, I've been waiting for a good flash piece for the past week or so now, there's been a real drought of good flash work lately. I think Jack's stands out the most, it's the most memorable piece, although I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Jack's and Shawn's piece looked great but they were mayb a lil too artistic for a general (dumb) audience. Myself included. ahah

from sickdeathfiends rape scene i never thought of the character to be a child (you think i would have submitted it if i did?). one of the main reasons is because i doubt he would be that stupid to submit something illegal like that. 2nd, the character has breasts. 3rd, she matches the size of an adult.(i think its the shot where she bursts through the doors where she looks a little young, but thats just the effects of the angle he used)

That was just over the top, you have acctually taken horro further than about every single horror movie ever, by acctually showing some liek 13 year old girl , and showing penetration and everything.... just wrong...very wrong... the rest was cool however..very cool

Rape scene was too much

The so called rape scene in SickDeathFiend's flash was a bit too much for my taste...
She looked a tad young... was kinda sick....
Was only the other stuff that saved it from the Zero/Blam.
