Rocking it out Loud

You see I am honest I don't like the KISS they are severely overrated and all yall knaw right. So the song I had to a tad bias about. Having not hearing the original or not remembering the original I think its the latter. So I can't make a good comparison between the two songs. Prejudicial I like this song because its unique having a full band song on the newgrounds audio portal seeing as its mostly fruity loops. Well with that being said keep it popping brah.

GlueR responds:

Thanks for the review! Kiss do have countless better songs than this one and a great part of their fame is indeed the makeup. So, it's better that you don't compare the cover to the original, cause we're no Kiss tribute band. What we did try, though, was another take to the original idea of the song in our own style, rather than a reproduction of the original recording. This meant different instrumentation, parts, structure, editing etc.
I don't have anything against FL songs, in most cases, everyone does their best with what they have, but I would surely love it if more full songs were out there on the Audio Portal... It would give a boost to it and I hope I'm playing a part in it...

This is cool

I wish the volume of the vocals were slightly higher ... but other than that.. it was a really cool song. Very entertaining to listen too. great work!

GlueR responds:

Thanks for the review! Oh, we always have long conversations with the band about the level of the vocals in the mix. In the end, we go for the middle ground. And this is it. Leave it to me and you might get an even lower level. But, it will always be separated from the instruments, frequency-wise. Still, another voice is added to the ones that want me to give more emphasis to the vocals! Maybe next time, I will...

Excellent cover.

This is exactly what I'd expect out of a great cover. Definitely good enough quality for Guitar Hero license to say the least ;-]

I can tell you put the straight week into processing. That's why this is going to stand out so much from most of the rest of the NG tracks, the authors of which don't normally put in the time nor have the equipment to really fine tune a sound like this.

It's been awhile since I heard the original (at least a few years, unfortunately) but this is one of my favorite Kiss tracks. I always like seeing how cover artists apply their own available equipment and talent to the task of recording famous material like this, and when done right that should result in a subtly new take on the original. This definitely showed that to me.

But what I really liked more than anything was the way your band really pushed things in the at the opening and the conclusion. The acoustic opening was phenomenal and perfectly fitting, and the transition to the concluding acoustic part at 4:37 really made this exceptional. I wasn't able to find any version by Kiss that did this, so I'm assuming that was entirely your creation. Great job on that.

Normally I have trouble giving too high of a score on a cover, a cover being what it is, but in this case your band truly deserves the 10 for all the work, creative and technical, that went into this. Fabulous.

GlueR responds:

Thanks for the good review! We tried to create a completely new take on the song, trying to bring it in the '00s. We completely changed the instrumentation, apart from a few things that sound characteristic to the song, like the rhythm guitar (now played by a synth), the main guitar riff (now left channel guitar, right channel analog synth) and the whips (then it was some synth sound, now it's actual whip sounds). The rest are completely new, including the electric and acoustic rhythm guitars, the hammond, the electric piano, apparently, the intro and the ending, the final electric part, the power chords, the second part of the solo etc...
We actually just took the original as if one of us came to the band with an idea for a song, the rest of us built on it and then left to me for a couple of weeks to do the rest of the instrumentation, editing and production... That's exactly how we do original songs as well.
