Reviews for "Megaman PX - Time Trial"

that was awesome but...

where was protoman???

Andrew-Traviss responds:

Trust me, I wanted Protoman to be in the game badly, but there isn't a full set of sprites for him, and I didn't find a spriter to make them in time.

Cool game

F****** CONTROLS!!!
Man, those made me SOOO ANGRY!
Bass' double is sticky or something, damn, I just let the key pressed and voila.

Good thing I made the highest scores for levels 1 and 2 :D

Not a bad game

Graphics:The characters look low quality even when I set the graphics on high.

Sound:The music went well with the backgrounds, but was a bit repeative.

Interactivity:It a game, what do you expect?

Style:I find this to be a lot like an old game called "Zero Race", except with X and Bass.

Violence:It a game, again, what do you expect?

Humor:I laugh at my stupidity when I time my jumps wrong and end up in spikes

For some reason I find it much easier with Bass because of his double jump, wall jumps don't cut it when you need another boost to get on platforms.

Kick ASS!!

Dude this game freakin' rocks!! it's like im playing on my super nintendo.(which by the way is my favorite system) GREAT game.

A Decent Megaman game...

This game shows potentional but falls behind mainly because of some level design and control issues.

The animations were smooth and spot on, which is expected from a sprite based game. The sound effects were alil too quiet. I couldn't hear them over the background music.

Megaman and Zero's controls worked the best. However, I felt I needed to dash everywhere because when you walked, the characters would slow down to a crawl. The wall jumping didn't feel quite right either. Alittle on the slow side (and no it is not because of my computer.)

Bass seemed like the least worked on among the 3 playable characters. His controls didn't seem as tight as the other two. Perhaps it is because of his double jump ability rather than the wall climb. Which brings me to my final point, the stages were clearly designed as an obsticle course, which seemed to be designed for Megaman and Zero's wall-climbing ablility. I noticed in some pits that you fall down in, there were small ledges added so Bass could climb back up also. Staying on those ledges proved tedious compared to Megaman and Zero's advantage. I suppose Bass provided a slightly different kind of challenge.

Overall, I enjoyed the game. It is alot better than most side-scrollers I have seen. I might pick it up later and actually try to beat a level without dying half way in.

Andrew-Traviss responds:

The walking speed used is pretty close to what Capcom uses in the real games, and it matches the animation. I realize it seems like a crawl, but it should. The game is a time trial, you are probably wise to dash everywhere.

I realize the level design issues. I need camera controls to avoid them. If NG re-enables alterations to submissions with more than 5K views, then I will make that change later when I add camera control to the game.

Yes, Bass is more difficult to use than the other two, BUT, there are many many places where the terrain is actually easier, or sometimes potentially faster for Bass to navigate.

Thank you for the in-depth review, it was very useful.
