a little too high

good job, still its scored a little 2 high, i mean it is just rave music, and pretty basic rave music, its not like far out crazy or original, and its not even 3 minutes

Envy responds:

Sorry mister music judge?

what do you mean JUST rave music? Sounds a little biased if you ask me 8/.

mmm

its okay but really cheezy. the melody is lame it needs more to it and then it would be pretty sick. i did like the part with the video game sounds tho!

Envy responds:

Hows it lame/cheezy?

its the same sounds

as your other songs though its not that bad but still change it up

More of the same :-(

I will be perfectly honest... I liked a few of your first tracks,

But everyone is the same now, they all sound like they have the same synths / effects / beat...

It's like you got all this together in one song awhile ago and saved the project and now everytime you go to start a new song you just load that project and change the melody a little (and maybe a few effects like reverb etc.)

In all fairness it's just getting a little boring now, you need to stop loading that same project and start afresh (maybe even try a different style even if it's just to show you can do more than one simple genre of music)

I always remember what someone once told me, "If an artist creates an album He must take the listener through a journey using different styles of music so that the music seems fresh and the listener will not know what to expect from the artist on the following track"

Unfortunatly If someone gave me a CD full of your songs... I would know exactly what to expect after the track I was listenting to (the same again) and hence I would grow tired of it all very quickly.

Variation is the key, I do not mean this as in insult but as advice, ditch the saved project you've re-used for a year or so, don't keep re-using that as it's killing it...

Start afresh and keep the music fresh.

Much Love,

JonnyFartPants

Envy responds:

First off, I don't have a saved track I keep reloading and I WILL take it as an insult because alot of time and hard work goes into them, and for you not to take that into account is nothing more than insulting.

Second of all, I never told you to listen to my new stuff, I never even said "This one's gonna be different!" So don't expect it. If I don't tell you, don't assume. I am not feeling very inclined to try something new for a very self indulged place such as newgrounds. (Sorry but its true as you only see the majority of decent tracks uploaded on tuesday nights hoping for top 5) Any place that has said "rituals" is not worth a tremendous amount of effort.

I'm not trying to be rude, only saying. Am I getting paid for my work? No. Am I getting much of anything for it? No. So tell me, where is my incentive? I'm not trying to sound greedy or anything just... As making music is a HOBBY of mine and nothing more (I do not plan in pursuing a career in it) shouldn't I work to do what I love? Not to try something new so "People at newgrounds will hear a new sound from me"? I love the style I make, and as I neither make music for YOU nor NEWGROUNDS exclusively, it remains the style that I love. (The exception is the song I made for my girlfriend, which still happens to be the same style)

If you want the truth, I neither want to step out of my comfort style bubble, nor have any incentive to. Not to sound greedy but if someone said "Hey I'll give you 5,000 bucks to change your style, would I? You're damn right I would, but wouldn't most anyone? You can't really call it dishonorable if anyone in their right mind would accept it.

Thanks for the honesty though

~Envy
