Reviews for "Trillian Episode One"

huh ?

I had no idea what was going on....a guy cuts his hair, a guy is next to a cliff, a boat come...a boat go away...the guy is now in a cave and evil guys walks and the guy fall on the side...then the end ??
When you make a flash movie, make sure the people know what's going on without having to read your full description, if we need to read to understand the movie then keep it as a book.
Keep it up

Erm.. huh?

Ok as far as I got it - there was naked Jesus, who shaved himself. Then he was standing on the cliff and saw the pirat ship, so when they left he came in their cave but then there were two ninjas and he passed out. The End.

Graphics are ok I suppose but the storyline has got to be better than this man.

Sorry

Although this has potential, I really think this has enough issues with it that you need to go back and rework it a bunch.

3.6MB for such a short duration flash means you need to optimize your audio. You need a new mic as well ... there's way too much snow in your recordings.

The hair trimming in the beginning was pointless. I almost closed out as I waited, and waited, and waited for it to finish. The sudden stop to the whitenoise, followed by a couple seconds of nothing, before your soundtrack kicked in was very distracting.

Standing on the cliff looking out, the moving grass is a great attention to detail BUT all four tufts moved exactly the same way. To keep it from detracting from the scene, set their start frames at different points so that their cycle appears random.

Long distance views of characters need a severe overhaul. They are poorly done stick figures at range, and that's a bad contrast to the work you tried to put into the characters on closer PoVs.

Draw the outline of object with the color you intend to use IN it, and then fill it. The sun does not have a black border. Tweak the shading on the fill as you did here, but then also adjust the border to match. It's only one extra step, but it goes a long way.

Make the ledge one layer, and the cave mouth another. That way you won't have the guy who is supposed to be swimming INTO the cave disappear behind the cliff face. Make sure the far end of the cave mouth actually goes all the way down so you don't have an obvious gap when you go to the close up.

The end scene needs to be animated much better. The ... whatever they were, pirate/ninja/badguys? ... tween up behind him and he tweens an arc 90 degrees left. It would have been nice to at LEAST see one of the guys raise a hand or something instead of appearing behind him and blowing really, really hard in his ear like the big bad wolf. We're left to assume that their feet actually moved someplace outside the stage area as they snuck up behind him, smacked him in the head, causing him to fall over unconscious. Didn't see it happen and we need to.

not too bad

but the graphics need working on. i suggest using frame by frame animating for the people, although you can use tweens for other stuff. it just makes things look a bit more lifelike and interesting. i probably wouldnt have known that those two guys knocked that other guy over, without reading the author's comments, because they didnt even move their arms. not a bad try though. just work on the graphics.
that and get a new microphone, the sound quality was awful =S

Good First Try!

This is good for a first try, i've only got flash and this is better than some of my earlier works. The graphics were quite good and the sound was amazing! But a bit short. I would like to see the sequal to this, you could really turn this series around. Anyway, i hope it makes it onto newgrounds.
