Reviews for "Effluo"

Very nice work . . .

It was a beautifully done movie, really. I thank you for making and sharing it.

In response to your author's note, however, I have arguments. You see, I am one of those "bigger picture" type of people. I look at things or events in relation to everything else, not just as singular incidents.

I think that if someone grows into the type of person who is capable of putting their parent in a home, it is a direct result of the influence of that parent. Elderly people are not innocent just because they're old. Some of them have done horrible things in their lives, and some of their children have suffered tremendously from it. So, sometimes if an elderly person is ignored by their family in the end of their life, it is because they are reaping what they sow, so to speak.

I'm not saying that two wrongs make a right. I do believe in the concept of "being the bigger person." But, I understand completely the compulsion to cut yourself off from your immediate family in certain cases.

Just my two cents.

cheshirepus responds:

Absolutely, I agree with you. But just as there are occasionally innocent people in prison, this movie would be more for those who don't deserve to be ignored.
Thank you for your review. I really do appreciate it.

Good...

It is a saddening hing to know that elderly people die alone in elderly homes but when you think about it wouldn't it be for the best? When a family exiles you wouldn't that make you wonder? If they love you so much why would they bring you to an elderly home? Issues like this disturb me and shows how ignorant and intollerable our own kind can be. Who cares if that family doesn't have the 'accomidate' living space or don't have enough money to support another person. FAMILY IS MUCH IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ELSE! So what if you have to make sacrifices. Before my tangent gets bigger I have one thing to say...
Death isn't always to be feared for sometimes it could be for the best.

It almost brought a tear

to me eye when the tree died. seriously a touching piece of work. i wonder if this will turn into a "for damon" then "for bassclock" shengians.

Great Movie but...

I just want to point out one thing. In this movie, we are suppossed to get slightly mad at the Grandma's family for not paying attention to her. My Grandpa died recently and my mother would visit him about three days a week before his passing. On the days she didn't go or call, he would feel lonely and get ideas that he was unloved. It is hard to take care of some one who becomes so dependent on you. My mother had a job, went to church, and did volunteer work... she couldn't watch after her father every second. Since there is no background information readily available for these characters, we can't assume that the man and wife in the picture don't care for the aged woman. Just because Grandma's phone didn't ring while the couple were shown simply sitting in front of a fire does not mean they did not love her.

By the by, this is not saying the flash was bad. I am just saying look at both sides of the situation before picking one.

Surprising

The image that impacted me the most, and has stuck with me, is when Death hands the old woman the flower. Rather haunting and, at the same time, beautiful.
