Decent, decent...
I liked the concept quite a bit. I didn't check out the Heart area to see how that one ran, but the reconstruction of the jungle area was faithful indeed. The engine to place enemies where you wanted them was very well done, with the added bonus of setting transparencies and colors. I made a 'ghost level' that completely kicked my best friend's ass, and he's a Contra freak.
Now, there were a few flaws, nothing too glaring, but flaws nonetheless. First of all, the alteration of the explosions, and the usage of these explosions when you shot enemies. I didn't like the way it looked, and it was definitely striking admidst the rest of the sprites. Why couldn't the original sprites have been used? Also, a few slight spelling errors scattered around, but since English appeared not to be your first language (correct me if I'm wrong) it was largely unnoticeable.
Good work, and I hope you continue in this vein.
