Exhalted Brilliance

You are an amazing composer, and this is another epic work of yours. This is a very theatrical piece. I really enjoyed listening to this. I don't really have anything to critique it with. There's always things you can change, but I don't think anything would necessarily make this piece better. I think it is great as it stands. Awesome work. Very good developement and transition from idea to idea. The story is well told.

MaestroRage responds:

Epic songs are my favorite form. Only in this form can I tell the stories I want to tell, the images I want to show.

It's true, a song can be changed in a million ways, whether that change makes it better is an entirely subjective field, some will like it, some won't. I am glad you found yourself enjoying the story, and the song. Thank you for the review! I apologize for the late response!

Brilliant

I will not say much, I believe saying this piece is the work of a genius is enough. But the feeling that evokes me is that one of the calm that preceeds a battle.

MaestroRage responds:

a calm preceding a battle eh? The original story was that of a union after a battle, but of course this idea works well. There is plenty of regret, bitter sorrow and a distaste which could very well be depicted this way.

It does in fact bring up a lot of ideas...

um...hmm..

for this...i can conjure no words...

Alas i can simply offer you this....

My humble vote of 5 :D

MaestroRage responds:

your lack of words say plenty my good friend, and that is all I can ask :).

Outstanding,,,

Soldiers returning home, especially in a middle ages setting, is a difficult thing to put music to. It is, in some sense a happy and grand occasion that the returning are alive, and yet, given the conditions of most people's lives back then, it wasn't exactly like the starving, impoverished peasants were crowding the streets with praise and celebration. At the same time, you have to convey the pain not only of the soldiers losing their comrades, but at the same time I sense here a hint of strength that still lies in those yet alive.

Although, it probably does have to be taken to such detail, conveying a story with a piece of music requires ample intricacy, and this song is in no short supply.

MaestroRage responds:

An excellent ability to decipher these emotions GeL. That is outstanding for me. You have not only found most if not all of the raw emotions I was going for, but phrased them into a more refined notion then myself!

The story that is behind this song exhibits everything you have just written. Loss, victory at a steep cost, but undying strength. To weep the fallen is a disgrace to their memory. They have died that day so that they may stand here now, to hug and comfort loved ones. To hold and lend strength to the broken hearted.

To cry now is an insult! They are WARRIORS! Every day they raise themselves from bed knowing it might be their last, marching knowing every step brings them closer to their graves, but they march, and they fight, all so that those who don't, may continue to rise from bed themselves. Hidden guardians.

The Warriors Code

Thou shalt not fear
Thou art not weak
Thou art the voice of which you speak,
Thou art the highest peak
Thou art a warrior brave and true,
Thou art the sun yet still the moon,
You will not fall when worlds collide,
Thou art a warrior, Semper Fi!
Thou can kill what is immortal,
bring down gods that are not normal.
You cannot fear,
Nor live in regret,
for your life stands on hells foul bet.
And when the suns collide at death,
You shall be proud and none forget,
you are a warrior brave and true and we must salute you.

MaestroRage responds:

well written mishmaster

amen.
